Organics Studio Nitrogen Blue Ink Review & Giveaway!

Organics Studio Nitrogen Blue Ink: Organics Studio produces the number one mega sheening ink on the market, Nitrogen Royal Blue ink is the number two mega sheening ink on the market with Walden Pond Blue ink as number one, or is it the other way around? Regardless, which Organics Studio ink is considered the top sheening on the market, you will love Organics Studio Nitrogen Blue ink.

Organics Studio Nitrogen Blue Ink Bottle

Organics Studio Nitrogen Blue Ink Bottle

Organics Studio Nitrogen Blue ink is part of Organics Studio’s Element fountain pen inks, which have chemistry themed colored names. Organics Studio Nitrogen Blue ink is handmade and shipped directly from Maryland. The inks have been a tremendous success. The Nitrogen royal blue is a beautiful blue ink similar in color to Sailor Souten ink, however, with the sheen the royal blue becomes almost an afterthought. This king of sheen ink, has a dark metallic shinny purple sheen that comes out without any difficulty. It can be achieved easily using any sized nib and on most paper products, which is quite unusual. Organics Studio Nitrogen Blue ink sells out quickly so if you find it in stock, we would suggest you pick up a bottle or two right away.

 Organics Studio Nitrogen Blue ink

Organics Studio Nitrogen Blue ink

While testing Organics Studio Nitrogen Blue ink we noticed the following characteristics that you may find useful:

Testing Factors

For this reviewe we used a J. Herbin glass spiral dip pen on French made Rhodia dot pad paper. The glass dip pen has a tip that is equivalent to a fine fountain pen nib, and yes the sheen was still very noticeable. Our photos of the ink do not do it justice.

Bottle Sizes

Organics Studio Nitrogen Blue ink comes in a standard Organics Studio plastic 55 ml. bottle. The simple bottle and even simpler cardboard box is the only simple or basic thing about this ink. The label on the bottle is very plain with the initials O.S. and the letter “N” on it. The label on the box is typical for Organics Studio with a simple explanation of Nitrogen and some of the products that contain it.

Cost

What makes Organics Studio Nitrogen Blue ink even more fantastic is its reasonable price as it retails for $16.00. Hands down one of the best buys on the ink market today, as I would guess people would pay double for this ink in a heartbeat.

Dry Time

Organics Studio Nitrogen Blue ink with its sheening characteristics is a pretty wet ink and takes longer to dry. During our review with the Rhodia paper and glass dip pen, we found a dry time of approximately 12-15 seconds. A larger nib would produce a longer dry time, but it’s worth the wait.

Bleed Through

With Rhodia dot pad paper, we found no real bleeding with Organics Studio Nitrogen Blue ink, except for a very slight amount during the cotton swab test when the swab was wet with ink.

Feathering

During normal use with Organics Studio Nitrogen Blue ink we found no feathering using the glass dip pen on Rhodia paper. During the water test however, there was some feathering at the test’s wettest points.

Water Test

Organics Studio Nitrogen Blue ink is not waterproof. During our water test it produced a significant amount of color smearing and some feathering, but no additional bleeding. Except for the wettest parts of the ink sample, the lines, although completely color smeared, kept pretty crisp and distinct.

Shading

Good luck finding some meaningful shading using Organics Studio Nitrogen Blue ink, as all the sheen will offset any shading there may be in the blue color.

Conclusion about the Organics Studio Nitrogen Blue Ink

Organics Studio Nitrogen Blue ink is worth the buy. If you don’t love it, we are sure you will be able to find someone to take this ink off your hands and your investment will not be lost. This ink is very popular and deservedly so.

The purple metallic sheen is out of this world and it comes easily without any additional effort. The wetter the line, the more sheen will show and less of the royal blue color. The sheen will show on almost all types of paper with any size fountain pen nib. The look is fantastic and is dark enough for office use and cool enough for any other use including home, journal, note taking or letter writing.

Organics Studio Nitrogen Blue ink is not waterproof and it does not come in a display quality glass bottle, but the price reflects the simple packaging, which makes it a spectacular economy ink. Usually we tell customers that certain fountain pens are the attention getter or conversation starter, but in this case the ink may be more of a spark than your fountain pen. We are continually getting more of the ink in but do sell out quickly. Please be patient if we are out as we are ordering as much as we can and will have it in stock again soon. Happy Writing!

I haven’t used this brand before. This blue looks pretty good. Can always use more blue!

I’m feeling somewhat compelled to buy another blue ink. Looking at the water test portion, I suspect this is more cooperative to pen cleaning than say, a certain blue from Noodler’s.

I love this ink. People often are so enamored by the sheen they don’t notice or mention the blue color itself is beautiful, vibrant and the shading, which is quite nice.
If you want even more Sheen try Organic Studios Walden Pond Blue.

I have two bottles of this ink because I love it so much. It’s got great sheen. The only caveat is that it seems to cause some pens to hard start, however, my Lamy Ocean Blue Al-Star has been handling the ink quite well. I think I’ve found a pen-ink match!
