What a beautiful pen! I purchased the dark blue version. The blue is definitely dark. It's a deep metallic flake blue. The gold trims are a gorgeous accent against the blue. If you like a thinner pen, this is perfect for you. A Waterman Carene is about the thickest pen I like, and this Grance is a bit thinner than that. I love the size of the Grance. The nib is a beautiful petite gold nib. I loaded the Grance with iroshizuku fufu-gaki ink. The fine nib is true to other Pilot fines, meaning it's very fine. It would be the equivalent of an extra fine in many other brands. It writes incredibly smooth. I LOVE this pen! Everything I expected from a Pilot pen.

This pen is deeply satisfying. The fit and finish is exemplary. The retraction mechanism is smooth and Silent. I wish it could take a larger capacity converter, but I see why it would not fit in the retracting nib mechanism. I have the F nib and it is a joy to write with. I'm using Iroshizuku cartridges in my pen and they have a great color selection. If you don't like heavy pens check the weight before purchasing. This pen is at the very upper limit of what I like, but I do like heavy pens.

I love writing with this pen. It is very light, very compact. Very smooth, consistent, predictable. I can use this as if it were a regular ballpoint. Easy to take apart and clean. The cap closes with a very satisfying soft click. I have not had it for very long, but the cap seems very well sealed. I love Pilot Pens.

Pilot makes quality ink. It flows so smoothly from my pens. Kon-peki is a beautiful color. This makes my second Pilot Iroshizuku ink. I also own Asa-Gao.

Wow, so so happy that they now have these available. I get to test the colors in many different pens and nib sizes without making a commitment. In this particular case I loved the color wherever I used it and am now ready to commit to a bottle that I know I will one day finish.

You can buy this pen almost anywhere but I chose to purchase this pen and others from Pen Chalet because of the service sometimes free stickers and attention to details. I also like buying within the USA. I’m happy with my pen and I’m happy where I purchased it. Thank you.

So happy with this year’s color that I bought 3. One for me and two as gifts. Not only did Pen Chalet have what I needed they were able to get it to me quickly. I’m a big fan of the V.P. so no surprise with the writing quality at this point. I’m very happy with my purchase.

I used this as a Christmas gift for someone. These Pilot E95S with their 14K gold nibs write just wonderfully. Best bargain for a gold nibbed fountain pen on the market... maybe. Their only "negative" is they don't hold much ink using a CON40 converter, which is understandable, seeing there isn't much room for a converter. If you can fine one, a CON-B squeeze converter hold double the amount of ink, but it more old school and hard to find I think. Using Pilot's preparatory ink cartridges hold more than a CON40, but not as much as a CON-B. Great fountain pen and easy to wear with a std pocket shirt.

I use dip pens most often when swatching inks - a quick way to nab a bit of color and do a few lines of writing without fully inking a pen. I have a preference for Japanese pens and nibs, enjoying the smooth action and finer lines, so I decided to try these. I have the clear in M and the black wood in F. They are the tiniest bit wide around the grip but my hands are small. Otherwise they are remarkable writers, very enjoyable to use, easy to clean, and high quality. The wood one is especially pleasing to the eye.

I love Pilot pens and this beauty has captured my heart. I love the nib and flow. The ink capacity as an EDC would last me over 2 weeks. After filling if you screw the piston all the way in you’ll run dry quickly because you’ve sealed off the ink from the section, so this would be helpful with rapidly changing barometric pressure. But if you leave the piston cap pulled back a little bit the nib remains wet and I can write immediately even with the pen unused for (so far) two weeks.

Videos and pictures can't catch the true beautiful color of this pen. The 14 K nib Pilot's quality makes to me one of my five perfect fountain pens. I want to thank Pen Chalet for the quality of their YouTube videos, their customer service, website pages pictures and shipping.

I got a clear Pilot Kakuno, and it's a great writer. I can see why a lot of people like this as an entry pen. It's affordable and writes wonderfully. The pen is made of resin/plastic, but its body feels solid, perhaps because of its hexagonal barrel. There's no clip for this pen, which I enjoy. It gives it a unique shape, which feels very cohesive and on-brand, what with the emoticon on both the nib and the branding. This pen seems to fill any need for a fun, perhaps even quirky, pen that's still extremely reliable and doesn't break the bank. (And if the lack of a clip is a deal-breaker, you might consider ordering a pen clip separately. I know that a bunch of people do this.)
Finally, a huge selling point is that it accepts the CON-70 converter, allowing for massive amounts of ink for those afraid of making it an eyedropper pen. (People like me. Because I'm clumsy and accident-prone.) There's a lot to appreciate about the Kakuno.
- Pilot Kakuno VS Platinum Preppy (for anyone trying to decide between the two) -
Between this and the standard Platinum Preppy (which I also got so I could try the two), I prefer the Kakuno. Its body feels sturdier, to the point where I'd even be willing to put this in my pen pouch whereas I'd fear that my Preppy would break and leak. Both EF nibs produce wonderfully thin lines that suit my small handwriting, but the Kakuno's EF nib writes thinner by just a hair and pushes it ahead by that much. All that and the fact that it's compatible with the CON-70 converter makes the Kakuno my preference, even if the Preppy wins in the price category.

It’s a really good pen! Writes smoothly, too. I like the slight flex of the nib. I am glad I spent the money to have a dependable pen.

There is zero that I can say that hasn’t already been said about these pens. The only thing I can add is WOW. The writing with this pen is glorious. It has a subtle lovely bouce when writing.
