I love Pilot pens and this beauty has captured my heart. I love the nib and flow. The ink capacity as an EDC would last me over 2 weeks. After filling if you screw the piston all the way in you’ll run dry quickly because you’ve sealed off the ink from the section, so this would be helpful with rapidly changing barometric pressure. But if you leave the piston cap pulled back a little bit the nib remains wet and I can write immediately even with the pen unused for (so far) two weeks.

Videos and pictures can't catch the true beautiful color of this pen. The 14 K nib Pilot's quality makes to me one of my five perfect fountain pens. I want to thank Pen Chalet for the quality of their YouTube videos, their customer service, website pages pictures and shipping.

I got a clear Pilot Kakuno, and it's a great writer. I can see why a lot of people like this as an entry pen. It's affordable and writes wonderfully. The pen is made of resin/plastic, but its body feels solid, perhaps because of its hexagonal barrel. There's no clip for this pen, which I enjoy. It gives it a unique shape, which feels very cohesive and on-brand, what with the emoticon on both the nib and the branding. This pen seems to fill any need for a fun, perhaps even quirky, pen that's still extremely reliable and doesn't break the bank. (And if the lack of a clip is a deal-breaker, you might consider ordering a pen clip separately. I know that a bunch of people do this.)
Finally, a huge selling point is that it accepts the CON-70 converter, allowing for massive amounts of ink for those afraid of making it an eyedropper pen. (People like me. Because I'm clumsy and accident-prone.) There's a lot to appreciate about the Kakuno.
- Pilot Kakuno VS Platinum Preppy (for anyone trying to decide between the two) -
Between this and the standard Platinum Preppy (which I also got so I could try the two), I prefer the Kakuno. Its body feels sturdier, to the point where I'd even be willing to put this in my pen pouch whereas I'd fear that my Preppy would break and leak. Both EF nibs produce wonderfully thin lines that suit my small handwriting, but the Kakuno's EF nib writes thinner by just a hair and pushes it ahead by that much. All that and the fact that it's compatible with the CON-70 converter makes the Kakuno my preference, even if the Preppy wins in the price category.

It’s a really good pen! Writes smoothly, too. I like the slight flex of the nib. I am glad I spent the money to have a dependable pen.

There is zero that I can say that hasn’t already been said about these pens. The only thing I can add is WOW. The writing with this pen is glorious. It has a subtle lovely bouce when writing.

Your products exceed expectations, the cleaning fluid is the only product that has worked on our pens and the new gold nib on my Namiki is working exceedingly well.
Thanks

Years ago I used to buy cheap Scheaffer pens at the drug store and put in lever-operated converters so I could fill them from a bottle. More recently my oldest son took up handwriting as an academic study and he converted me to the Falcon pen. I like the smooth, controllable nib and the screw-type ink cylinder. I like that it clips to my shirt pocket pretty firmly.

What a beauty. In looks and in function. The clip is indeed not in the way and in fact helps (as do Lamy Safaris) with the proper alignment of the pen to the paper. I got the extra fine nib. I writes for me very similar to a 0.3 mm Penstix a little wider than a 003 Micron....if that helps at all. This is my first good Pilot (gold nib). Have a Platinum 3776 which I also like, but having to unscrew the cap has me not using it as often. Am loving the click it. So easy for that quick note.

I absolutely love these. I have over 200 pens, but gotta have a couple of these. I much prefer over a Preppy. Great performance and a great starter pen. Nibs run smaller than typical and use proprietary cartridges. Make sure you have a converter or 2. To me the are more of a staple than “a Fun” pen, but still a must have.

I use several of these inks for writing letters. When I write my daughters I like soft colors. Outstanding price to value for a truly premium ink.

Purchased several samples of this ink, and all of them are appealing (Grain of Rice, Bamboo Forest, and Rigor of Winter) These seem to be wetter inks, which I like, although they can spread depending on the grain and texture of your paper. Nice even colors with subtle shade. Pretty consistent behavior, very enjoyable to use.

These are the cartridges I use when traveling for my Pilot Metro style pens. The ink is first quality, although since the size is not standard, the functionality is limited to the proprietary design. More colors would be nice. All of the colors are nice, although the purple is too lilac for me. All these inks perform very well, and for the price these are an excellent value.

I have most of the pens in the Metro line, including those sold under the 'cocoon' name in Japan. I'd say they are ideal beginner fountain pens, but they are perfectly respectable intermediate pens as well. They are sturdy, easy to clean, perform very consistently, and if you have a smaller hand like I do, the slimmer profile is a big plus. Overall a great pen with unbeatable value; this is my go to for everyday and for travel.

I’ve had my VP for years with the fine nib that just didn’t work for me. Getting the stub was one of the best choices for my handwriting I’ve ever made. Pen Chalet has the absolute best price and the customer service to match. I transformed a mediocre writing experience to a pen I cannot put down!

This was a grail pen for me and I have not been disappointed with any aspect of the pen. It has been in continuous use for the past 9 months and I have not put it away since I received it. I ordered the amber in the fine nib which is relatively smooth, has good flow with some slight feedback which I enjoy. The vac filler is convenient to use and it holds a large volume of ink over 2 ml. I am now considering the smoke with a medium nib to add to my collection. Great pen and no regrets with my purchase.

Pilot is a pen giant with first rate products. Their pens are elegant, beautifully made, and functional works of art. They really are tastefully designed to perfection. Never a skip or hard start. I have three Custom 912’s and they never disappoint. My go to pens.
