• Uranus ink is one of nine inks in the Van Dieman’s Solar System ink collection.
• The Van Dieman’s Solar System ink collection was a late 2023 release.

Van Dieman’s Uranus Ink Review: a Claire Critink

The exclusive Uranus ink from the Van Dieman’s Solar System series is a “standard ink smack in the center of the Teal range. I suspect the Teal fans will like this. I found it to be an unsaturated but bright, cheerful ink.

How’s the Ink Flow?

The flow [of Van Dieman’s Uranus ink] is on the wet side but doesn’t feather or ghost on the (old) TR68 I use for these. Paler in an F nib but still perfectly legible.

Does Uranus Ink Show Any Shading Properties?

There is minimal shading or tonal variation in writing however, in pools, [Uranus ink shows] some lovely paler green.

How Does Uranus Ink Respond to Water?

With water, there is both green and blue subtle chroma as you would expect.

How Does Van Dieman’s Uranus Ink Compare to Similar Inks?

[Check out similar ink] comparisons [above]. The closest I have is Marine, although, this ink is fractionally greener. It is very similar, though, but without the tonal variation in pooling. Tobermory wreck is close in pooling but paler in writing.

The Verdict: Van Dieman’s Uranus Ink Review

VERDICT…this is nice, although I wouldn’t call it unique.”
