This week’s ink comparison will feature the three recently released Pen Chalet Exclusive Robert Oster inks. The 3 recent releases join Antelope Canyon ink, another Pen Chalet Robert Oster Exclusive ink. The four inks all pull inspiration from the state of Arizona in the USA, where Pen Chalet was founded.

Sedona Red fountain pen ink: Inspired by Sedona’s eclectic atmosphere and the red rock phenomenons that made the area famous, Sedona Red fountain pen ink is a small piece of the fiery passion of the Southwest.

Monsoon Sky fountain pen ink: For a couple months each year, Arizona’s monsoon sky is a surreal combination of clouds and colors that bring an otherworldly filter to the state’s otherwise notoriously clear blue skies.

Saguaro Cactus fountain pen ink: Saguaro Green fountain pen ink is an olive-like color that mimics the Saguaro Cactus’s ability to break up the muted, desert landscape with energy and life.

“These are the Robert Oster Pen Chalet Exclusive fountain pen inks in Sedona Red, Monsoon Sky, and Saguaro Green. Following a quick swatching, I am so excited to see that these three are SO my colors. Thank you Robert Oster and Pen Chalet for another beautiful collaboration. More later as now I need to clean a few of my fountain pens for this trio.”

Reviewing Pen Chalet Exclusive Robert Oster Inks with Klarissa:

“I had fun playing with my new inks: Robert Oster Sedona Red, Monsoon Sky, and Saguaro Green. For today’s handwriting sample, I used the Sedona Red in my YStudio Brassing Portable fountain pen. I am not really a pink person so my red ink has to be *RED*/very saturated. This Sedona Red is definitely my kinda red. Somebody asked me whether I see any sheen writing with this ink. I tested the ink with my Broad nib and Medium nib on both Tomoe River 68gsm and Nebula Note paper. I don’t see any sheen in my writing samples. If you have this ink, I would love to know what you think. It is a very pretty red.” -Klarissa, @thesnowystudio

“…I am happy to share with you my handwriting samples using the three new Robert Oster Pen Chalet Exclusives inks. On the right page, you can find the lyrics of “Over the Rainbow” (I love Eva Cassidy’s version, btw) in the three ink colors – top to bottom: Robert Oster Sedona Red, Monsoon Sky, and Saguaro Green.

On the left page, I did my ink splatters of the three new inks as well as listing other similar inks for comparison:

  1. Robert Oster Sedona Red: This is a beautiful red ink with a very low green/gold sheen that I can only see on Tomoe River paper when I use my very wet writers. As a comparison, Sailor Bungubox Aries has a very similar red tone with an insane green/gold sheen that is present *all the time*. I also listed my favorite red, Jacques Herbin Rouge d’Orient, as a reference .
  2. Robert Oster Monsoon Sky: This ink looks very similar to Ferris Wheel Press Bluegrass Velvet That said, FWP Bluegrass Velvet has more sheen and RO Monsoon Sky is a tad greener. RO Monsoon Sky also has a greener tone compared to Colorverse Gravity Wave.
  3. Robert Oster Saguaro Green: I love this shade of green and noticed the lovely shading from this RO Saguaro Green. For comparison, I listed Pilot Iroshizuku Chiku-Rin and Sailor Shikiori Waka-Uguisu.

To me, all three colors are beautiful, but I a fascinated by the striking Sedona Red and Monsoon Sky.” -Klarissa, @thesnowystudio

I am so excited by these colors. My favorite is that beautiful green, though the red is not far behind. Now that blue, well, what can’t you like by these inks and RO is such a great ink. Thanks to Pen Chalet for helping to bring them to us.
