Colorverse Pen Chalet Monument Valley ink Bottle

Colorverse Pen Chalet Monument Valley Ink Review and Giveaway

Colorverse Pen Chalet Monument Valley Ink is part of the Monument Valley is part of the Colorverse Pen Chalet Limited Edition ink set. This limited edition ink has been produced by Colorverse Ink Company exclusively for Pen Chalet. The set contains two bottles of complementary Arizona themed ink, Monsoon Storm and Monument Valley. Each set is packed in a gift box and comes with its own placard numbered from 1-300. The idea for this exclusive ink set was born at the Frankfurt Germany Paperworld show in January 2019.

Monsoon Storm and Monument Valley are each a representation of the State of Arizona, which has unique geography and climate. We previously reviewed the teal blue Monsoon Storm ink,  representative of Arizona’s dark intense summer monsoon storms. Monument Valley reflects the natural wonder of the Monument Valley region in Northeastern Arizona and its beautiful landscape and color. Colorverse Monument Valley ink is a beautiful burnt orange color that has a slight red tinge rather than a copper or brown tint. The ink is dark enough to show up well during normal use on white paper.

Colorverse Pen Chalet Monument Valley Ink Review

Colorverse Pen Chalet Monument Valley Ink Review

We found the following traits during our review of Colorverse Pen Chalet Monument Valley ink that you may find useful when picking your next ink color:

Testing Factors

We used a J. Herbin glass dip pen on Rhodia dot pad paper for our review of Colorverse Pen Chalet Monument Valley ink. Other pens and paper may produce varying results.

Bottle Sizes

Monsoon Storm ink is the 65 ml. bottle in the Colorverse Pen Chalet limited edition set with Monument Valley being the smaller 15 ml. bottle. Each set is packaged very securely, comes with various Colorverse ink swag items and an individually numbered placard between 1-300. Colorverse Pen Chalet Monument Valley ink will be retired forever once the 300 units are sold.

Cost

Colorverse Pen Chalet Monument Valley ink retails for $36.00. This makes this limited edition ink on the higher price scale. However, with two bottles of high-quality ink and the unique features of the ink set, it makes the price more reasonable.

Dry Time

During our review of Colorverse Pen Chalet Monument Valley ink, we found a very reasonable dry time of approximately 6-7 seconds. With different pens, writing styles and paper you may find a different result.

Bleed Through

We found absolutely no bleeding during our review of Colorverse Pen Chalet Monument Valley ink.

Feathering

During normal use, we found no feathering while testing the Monument Valley ink. Even during our water test we only found a slight amount of additional feathering, which is not unusual for a non-waterproof ink.

Water Test

We conducted a water test on the Monument Valley ink by running a wet cotton swab over the dried ink sample. The results were significant color smear, but the lines remained legible. There was only a small amount of feathering at the wettest points. This is typical for non-waterproof fountain pen inks.

Shading

Shading is where Colorverse Pen Chalet Monument Valley ink excels. With the right pen, penmanship, and paper you will find beautiful shading traits. From dark burnt orange with a red tinge to a lighter blood orange color. Of course, there is also all the shades in between. If you like shading with your inks you will not be disappointed.

Conclusions about Colorverse Pen Chalet Monument Valley ink

Colorverse Pen Chalet Monument Valley ink is a nice dark orange color that has lots of shading potential. The price is on the high side, but considering you get two complimentary bottles of high quality imported ink, it makes the price more sensible. The dry time is very reasonable, the color shows up well during normal use and would be perfect for letters, cards, notes and other projects requiring an orange colored ink. The Colorverse packaging as always is top notch and very protective, the bottles are also interesting and unique. Happy writing from Korea and Arizona!

I have been casting around for a good, strong orange, and have various options that could be described as okay but not strong enough. This looks like an attractive and strong orange that would be worthy of a lot of use.
