Just introduced as the Ink of the Year for 2017, Pelikan Edelstein Smoky Quartz.  The annual excitement over Pelikan’s announcement and release of its Inks of the Year is a ritual that Pen Chalet has enjoyed over the years.  This is the 6^th annual “Ink of the Year” released by Pelikan, which again was suggested by its fan base.  As with other Pelikan Edelstein Ink of the Year colors, Smoky Quartz is a limited edition ink that will only be available. Previous yeas colors include colors such as 2016’s Aquamarine, 2015’s ultra popular Amethyst, 2014’s Garnet, 2013’s Amber and 2012’s Turmaline, all of which are now discontinued.

Pelikan Edelstein Smoky Quartz Fountain Pen Ink

Overall, Pelikan’s Smoky Quartz will be the 14^th Edelstein ink color produced by this well know and respected German pen company.  Although we have not been able to sample Pelikan Smoky Quartz yet, in general Pelikan Edelstein ink is a superb ink that has special ingredients which promotes smooth writing and easy flow and cleaning.   Smoky Quartz, again taking its name from popular gemstones (which Edelstein actually translates to), looks to be a rich dark shade of brown, which Pen Chalet is super excited about.

Another assumption is that Pelikan will also release, as it did with 2015’s Amethyst and last years Aquamarine colors, a fountain pen to match the Smoky Quartz color.  We anticipate a M205 Smoky Quartz fountain pen, being similar to the popular M200 Cognac Fountain pen series, but with rhodium trim vs. gold trim.  We think this color combination will be fantastic and will quickly become a top seller when it’s released in March of 2017.  Pen Chalet is taking pre-orders for this highly anticipated Pelikan Edelstein Ink of the Year.  We fully expect Pelikan Edelstein Smoky Quartz to sell out so get your bottle quickly.

As with all Edelstein ink colors, Smoky Quartz will come in a stunning 50 ml. glass ink well bottle and we also expect a 6 pack of large capacity ink cartridges.  Pen Chalet carries all standard Pelikan Edelstein ink colors, and may have a few of 2016’s Edelstein Aquamarine bottles left in stock, but have sold out of all previous ink of the year colors.
