Falcon is a beautiful pen. I'm new to fountain pens so don't have lots of comparisons, but I enjoy writing with it. Pen Chalet had the best price on this pen.

This was my first gold nib pen, and I wasn't disappointed. The Soft Extra-Fine is a bit scratchy, but writes well on cheap paper. It's a little flexy too, so there's plenty of line variation when you want it. The Soft Fine or even Soft Medium might be a bit better for normal writing, but the SEF is good for my chicken scratch. Because of the downward curve of the nib, I have to make a conscious effort to hold the pen at a shallower angle to the paper. All said, this is a great pen!

I purchased the broad and it's a little much for my style of writing. It's very smooth and a pleasure to write with.

LOVE my BRIGHT RED, strong beautiful pen. Medium (size) flex nib, my first flex, and it works great. Note: You veterans of the flex know it takes some learning before you get it exactly right. Once the finer muscles of the headbone, eyebone, and handbone get to workin, my-oh-my, you can have some fun. Personally, I've had to train my hand to PUSH harder with this one, versus my other fountain and calligraphy pens, and the reward is a suble variance in the writing that can make people think you're more interesting than you really are.

Excellent pen for the value. Writes beautifully for a 14K gold nib. Have no problems with buying another Namiki/Pilot pen again!

WOW what a great pen! I got the fine point and I must say it is an excellent writer and a great value. It is one of the pens I use all the time.

I have a great collection of pens, many beautiful ones, and some I use all the time. This is one of them! And Pen Chalet is tops to do business with!

As a lefty, I was warned against getting the Pilot Falcon SEF. I was told it wold be a terrible writer and I would tear my pages to pieces just trying to write. All of this advice was COMPLETELY WRONG. This pen is an absolute wonderful writer. I love the feedback it gives as I write, and although I don't get as much line variation as I thought, I still get enough of it to make me happy. This pen is a must if you're coming from dip pens. It writes beautifully and it's perfect for drawing too. I really recommend this pen!

Nice classic design with good weight and balance. I ordered a Medium nib, but in retrospect, I would have ordered a Broad nib only because I like a heavier line with the possibility of line variations. The actual writing is very smooth and the ink flow is consistent...it feels comfortable to write with this pen.

FAQs about the Pilot Falcon Collection

Q:
Is this pen metal or resin body (sounds like metal but I read it was resin)? How much does it wight?
Thanks in advance
PS I love your videos keep up the excellent work.
Asked on Sep 11 2018 by Ray
A:
The body is a resin and it weighs about .6 oz.
Q:
I noticed that in the images of the black with rhodium trim that the nib matches the trim. If I order the rhodium? model will the nib be 14k gold & gold in color or will it be 14k gold and coated silver to match? the trim? That may be an obvious question to some, but this would be my first gold nib and have no prior knowledge about them. Thanks in advance! :)
Asked on May 19 2017 by Danni
A:
The nibs on the different colors of the Pilot Falcon pens are all gold nibs. The silver color has a rhodium coating over the nib to give it the color but the performance is the same.
Q:
I understand that the Namiki Falcon comes with "Pilot" branded on the nib, but does the pen have "Namiki ... Made in Japan" branded on the cap ring?
Asked on Mar 28 2017 by Andrew
A:
No, the Pilot Falcon fountain pens are now all branded as Pilot rather than Namiki on both the nib and the band of the pen.
Q:
Which ones have the Namiki branding printed on the nib?
Asked on May 19 2015 by Jeremy
A:
The older version of the Namiki Falcon fountain pen had Namiki on the nib but the pen now comes with Pilot on the nib. We do not have any with Namiki branding engraved on the nib.
Q:
Is the "soft fine" the same as the "fine" I see listed here? All over the Internet I see great reviews of the "soft fine" or "Soft extra fine" and I very interested in trying it out. I am especially interested in its use for calligraphy.
Asked on Apr 2 2015 by Julia
A:
Yes, the soft fine is the same as the fine listed. The Namiki falcon comes with a flexible soft nib on all the nib sizes.
Q:
Is SF nib smoother than SEF? I have hard time deciding between the two. Is there more line variation between the two?
Asked on Mar 16 2015 by Lukasz
A:
The Soft Fine nib on the Namiki Falcon fountain pen is definitely smoother than the extra fine. The fine would also be a slightly wider line so you will see more line variation.
Q:
Do you have Namiki Falcon Fountain Pen Black "soft extra fine" nib
Asked on Dec 24 2014 by Aydin
A:
Yes the Namiki falcon soft extra fine nib comes in either black with gold color accents or black with rhodium accents.
Q:
Does the Namiki Falcon come with the converter?
Asked on Jun 22 2014 by Morten
A:
Yes, the Namiki Falcon fountain pen comes with an ink converter included with the pen.

Pilot Falcon Collection Video

Video Script

This is the Pilot Namiki Falcon Pen. It comes in this nice cardboard case. It's got a hinged top so you can open it and use it to display the pen if you wish to. This particular pen is black with the gold accents.

The Pilot pens are made in Japan and are well known for the quality of their nibs. This particular pen has a gold nib. The cap unscrews to reveal the nib, you can also post the pen, it's nicer for writing. To replace the ink in this, this is a cartridge or converter style pen, you can unscrew the nib section from the barrel and it has a converter in it, a screw type converter to draw the ink into it. You can also pop that out, you can just pull that out and replace it with a cartridge. This particular pen also comes with a cartridge, right underneath the false bottom of this box you can see there is an extra cartridge of ink. It also comes with a user guide and the registration instructions inside the that false bottom.

This is a great pen for the price and you've got to have one of these. Get yours today at Penchalet.com
