Organics Studio Twilight Blue Ink has just been released. A new ink color in the Organics Studio Masters of Writing Series of inks, Ralph Waldo Emerson Twilight Blue. Ralph Waldo Emerson was an American author and poet who lived from 1803 until 1882. He is best known for starting the American Romantic Movement in the 1800’s.
Many Organics Studio inks, which are handmade in the United States, are known for their great sheening characteristics. Many of their fountain pen inks are known as “sheen monsters”, such as Walden Pond Blue and Nitrogen Royal Blue. Organics Studio Twilight Blue ink is also in this category. Although the ink did not sheen quite as much as Nitrogen Royal Blue or Walden Pond Blue, it was close. Organics Studio Twilight Blue ink is a deep blue-black color that lives up to the name twilight blue, with a tremendous amount of metallic sheening. If you have not experienced a true sheening ink, they are a must try. Organics Studio Twilight Blue ink will sheen on most paper with almost any nib size or style. In contrast, most other sheening inks require a broader nib or specific paper.
Although we have been ordering as much of the Nitrogen Royal Blue and Walden Pond Blue ink as we can, we will sell out usually within a few days. Due to the tremendous initial response for this newest Organics Studio ink, we fully expect the Ralph Waldo Emerson Twilight Blue ink to sell as quickly.
The bottle we tested and are now giving away is a First Edition bottle of Organics Studio Twilight Blue ink, which is numbered 50/50! Continuing reading for a chance to win the bottle of ink we used for this review.
We noticed the following characteristics while testing Organics Studio Twilight Blue ink that you may find helpful:
Testing Factors
For our review of Organics Studio Twilight Blue ink we used a French made J. Herbin glass spiral dip pen on Rhodia dot paper. The dip pen has a tip that is similar to a fine fountain pen nib. Even with the dip pen, the sheen was extremely prevalent to the point of almost overpowering the blue-black color.
Bottle Sizes
Organics Studio Twilight Blue ink comes in one size, a simple 55 ml plastic bottle with a large ribbed lid, which allows easy access. The bottle has a simple label with a picture of Ralph Waldo Emerson, with the letters O.S. above it, and the name “Ralph” below it. The simple, but standard, Organics Studio box has the same picture, name and information about Ralph Waldo Emerson. The box for this review also has “First Edition” on the label with the 50/50 number on the size.
Cost
Organics Studio Twilight Blue ink is a very reasonable value ink, which retails for $16.00. Organics Studio inks remain extremely popular, with the sheening inks the most popular of them all.
Dry Time
Organics Studio Twilight Blue ink had a reasonable dry time of approximately 6-7 seconds without much smear after that. This was a bit surprising as the ink has a high saturation. Again, these results were based upon our review using Rhodia dot paper with a glass dip pen.
Bleed Through
Using Rhodia dot paper, we found zero bleeding during normal use. During the water test, we found a very small bleeding, but only at the wettest point of the test. Additionally, at the very wettest part of the cotton swab test, we noticed a very small bleeding area.
Feathering
We found absolutely no feathering during normal use on Rhodia paper. However, during the water test, we did see significant feathering during the two or three wettest strokes of the test. Organics Studio Twilight Blue ink is not a water-proof ink.
Water Test
Organics Studio Twilight Blue ink is not a water-proof ink. During our water test, where we ran a wet cotton swab over an ink sample after it had dried for about 3 minutes, produced significant color smearing, feathering and some slight bleeding.
Conclusion About the Organics Studio Twilight Blue Ink
Organics Studio Twilight Blue ink will be an extremely popular ink color. The blue-black is a wonderful dark blue although the metallic sheen can overtake the base color of the ink. The value is tremendous, the dry time is better than expected and did we say the sheening is out of this world? Organics Studio Twilight Blue ink would be a perfect ink for home or office use, especially for writing a letter, as the recipient will be sure to ask you, “what ink did you use?” If we happen to be out of stock, please be patient and check with us often as we are always getting new shipments to meet your demand.
