All About This Week’s Chosen Ink: Robert Oster Scorpion Ink
Robert Oster Scorpion ink is the latest release in the Pen Chalet Exclusive Rober Oster ink series featuring ink colors inspired by Arizona. If you aren’t familiar with Arizona, throughout the spring, summer and early fall, scorpions come out at night. Under the beam of a florescent light scorpions glow, but normally they’re a yellow, golden-brown (somewhat translucent) color. Coming across a scorpion unexpectedly can be terrifying, but most experienced Arizonans accept them as just another part of the beautiful Arizona landscape; long-time residents may even develop an appreciation and find seeing one exciting…as long as they’re doing so from a safe distance. To reflect this particular aspect of the Arizona landscape, Robert Oster Scorpion ink is a beautiful light, golden brown color; reminiscent of an Arizona Bark Scorpion. (Yes, there are a number of different types of scorpion out there in the world, but we’ll save that discussion for another day). ***Wondering where to find the giveaway for the inks in our weekly ink reviews? We use the 1-dip test to see how far one dip can write on paper (dipping the pen into the ink only once). Scorpion ink very easily wrote across the paper on all three writing samples with lots of ink to spare. (Using only one dip per writing sample “S” “X” and scribble lines, see the image above). How Fast Does Robert Oster Scorpion Ink Dry?

We saw no bleeding during normal use on Rhodia dot pad paper. However, there was a slight amount of bleeding during the heavy saturated cotton swab test (but only at the wettest points). Was There Any Feathering During the Scorpion Ink Review?
We saw no feathering during normal use, and just some very slight feathering during the water test. How Does the Ink Stand Up to Water?
Robert Oster Scorpion ink is not meant to be waterproof, but we put it to the test anyway. For the water test we let our ink sample dry for about 3 minutes before we run a wet cotton swab over the sample to observe the effect. Here are the results we saw during today’s review:- Very light color smearing
- Lines still very legible
- Almost no distortion or line fading
