About the Noodlers Konrad

First introduced in 2012, the Noodlers Konrad fountain pen comes with a #6 steel flex nib and a piston fill mechanism. The Konrad ebonite fountain pens feature a ripple patterned cap and/or barrel. Noodlers Konrad Video Script

This is the Noodler's Ink Konrad fountain pen. Comes in a simple cardboard box. You have the Noodler's designs on the exterior of the box, and inside, we have the Noodler's Ink Konrad fountain pen.

This is the Dixie #10 Methuselah Ebonite. It has Ebonite swirling pattern here on the barrel of the pen with a black cap at the end of the barrel. The cap on the pen is a black cap with chrome-colored accents. We have a small, thin chrome band that runs around the top of the cap with a chrome clip. The clip has Noodler's Ink engraved on it, and then we have a small chrome band at the bottom of the cap with Noodler's Ink engraved in that chrome band as well. The cap on the pen unscrews. You can post the cap.

This is a piston-style fountain pen, so it has a little clear transparent viewing window to see the ink in the pen, and then, it has a black grip section with threads here for the cap and a simple Noodler's Ink flex nib. It's a stainless steel nib.

To add ink to the pen, since it's a piston-style pen, the end of the cap screws off and there is a small knob that you can twist to remove that piston and fill the ink in the pen.

Great looking pen. It's a fairly inexpensive pen, but if you're looking for a flex nib pen, this is a great option. Get your Noodler's Ink Konrad fountain pen at PenChalet.com.

I wasn’t expecting anything noteworthy, but in truth this pen more than meets expectations. It’s well constructed, the nib fun and expressive, an altogether satisfactory bang for few bucks.

This has got to be the best pen that Noodler's makes. The second runner-up would be the nib creeper, but this is a step up in size and ink capacity and that's why I love it. Smooth nibs in the two I own, lovely ebonite materials in one. I personally love the smell of the other one. Great ink capacity and reliability.

While I really like how my older Konrad writes, this Wendigo model, while without the noxious odor that f the original version, doesn’t write nearly as well, even after realigning the nib. The nib in this pen doesn’t seem to have any flex, and writes like a fine nib, period.

This is my first Noodler pen and the Konrad is now one of my favorite pens. I have largish hands and the MonteVerde Sequoia large barrel sits well in my hand. But I find this Konrad so comfortable to use even if it is smaller in diameter. I like how the tip is so versatile: I can simply write and it is like a fine tip but when I want to be more expressive, the tip flexes and I get different line thickness.

Plus the pen construction makes it simple to repair and swap out nibs...great design.

First, I hate the Noodler's flex nibs, because I think they are terrible for writing WITHOUT flex. But the Wendigo model of this pen looked so cool, I bought one (and now several) and planned to change out the nib immediately.

I planned on installing a Fountain Pen Revolution nib, but decided that for $0.80, the Noodler's non-flexible F/M was worth a try. I like it! It felt rather scratchy and sharp for the first few lines, as if it wanted to snag the paper, but after a few lines, I got the nib aligned against the paper correctly and the pen wrote great.

The build quality seems pretty good. This feels like a solid pen. But I wonder if Noodler's bothers to put silicone grease on the piston. I have tried several of these, and the first time trying to move the piston by twisting the filler knob it always seems "stuck" and I am afraid something is going to break. (And that happened in one of my five Konrads). The filling assembly is supposed to be removable by twisting counterclockwise. I haven't tried that yet, but on future Konrads, I will probably remove the filling assembly and grease the piston before the first fill.

The one major downside to buying one of the multi-color acrylic designs (like the Wendigo, Chimney Afire, or Emeralds on the Sun) is that you never know what the one you get will look like. I've seen Wendigos with very little blue on them and Wendigos with an overwhelming amount of blue. You just have to take your chances there.

An affordable piston fountain pen, a joy to write with, taking me back to my youth when usually every student wrote with these wonderful writing utensils in elegant cursive penmanship. Ballpoints are so crude after writing with a genuine fountain pen. I'll never use a ballpoint again.

This pen is beautiful band well designed.
The grip is quite comfortable- it has that concave finger friendly form, with a flare just before the nib- reminiscent of vintage pens.

I appreciate the ink window. I inked my stunningly beautiful “Wendigo” Konrad with a blue the same color as the swirls.

The pen writes very well. Its a good experience tgat can lead to longer writing sessions with the weight bring lighter and the comfort of the grip.
I can write extremely fast with this pen.

This is definitely my new go-to favorite pen. It works great as a daily writer, and for practicing pointed pen calligraphy. The piston pen fills with a LOT of ink, which is great if you don't want to have to fill with ink so often. I also like this one above the Noodlers Creaper pen because the piston fill knob is protected by a small secondary cap, so if the posted cap wiggles, you won't have an accidental splurt of ink. The screw-on cap is also great for carrying loose in a bag or pocket; I don't worry about the pen getting ink everywhere. I got the Wendigo style, and it is absolutely beautiful!

The flex nib is a little stiffer than I expected, and will indent softer papers, so be aware. (It's still worth it to not have to get out my dip pens!) Some people have complained about the smell of the pen; mine definitely has a smell, but I don't think it's unpleasant, just unusual.

Fabulous flex nibs in fun acrylic colors, these were an instant hit. I own at least one, (2 or 3 of some) in my favorite colors. Great value, easy of use and fun for tinkering with too, if that's your thing.
