Platinum has been making fine writing instruments of over 90 years. Founded in since 1919 by Shunichi Nakata, this Japanese pen company is well respected for their fine nibs and maki-e art pens. The company was originally named Nakaya seisakusho which means manufacturer but renamed to Platinum Fountain Pen Co along with its logo which became a motif of earth.
After WWII the company changed its name from Platinum Fountain Pen Company to Platinum Industry Company only to change the name back to Platinum Fountain Pen Company in 1962.
Platinum fountain pens are designed not to do not dry out when they are left capped over long periods of time. Platinum pens also create the cartridge style fountain pen.
Most Platinum pens come with a 1 year warranty. Warranty information is included with each Platinum pen. For details on a specific Platinum pen fee free to ask.

Customer Reviews

I love these pens, I'm amassing a small fleet of them. They are great for trying out new inks. The nib is the same great nib you see in other inexpensive Platinums like the Prefonte. The build of the pen guards against the ink drying out, so I'm free to have a boatload of inked pens without much maintenance. This is one of the best cost-for-value items I have ever bought. The only downsides are they look cheap and you need an adapter or a converter to use them with other companies' ink. The great thing is they come with a cartridge which you can empty and refill. I was planning on doing that but I ended up liking the Platinum ink so much I will just use it up. Cannot overstate how great these pens are.

A little more narrow than I like, but otherwise this is a great pen for the highlighter ink. It holds the ink nicely and leaves a nice, delicate line.

Amebie.
Find out about this mythological symbol and its relationship to pandemics!
I ordered two pens with this jaoanese mythological “mermaid” creature’s picture on ir.
Its very cute. I hope it’s pandemic magical powers work, we really need it.
Back to the pens: one for me one for my brother- The writing experience is nice: A lively nib.
Platnium really has a way with comfy nibs.
I recommend you try one. Why: Many cool colors, great nib feel, ( i bought the seperate converter), pull off cap for “quick draw” writing , shiny, and classically designed.
WOW!

You do not want to know how long I've been trying to find this. I like my pen but having to order special cartridges rather than fill a converter was driving me crazy. Thank you for carrying this. It is great.

I don't know. It's ink. I don't buy ink with fancy features like sparkle or sheen. I buy stuff that works in my pens.

3776 Century pens are rapidly becoming one of my favorite pen lines. I don't normally love gold trim on pens, but it works pretty well on this Chartres Blue. I got the Soft Fine nib on this one, and I like it quite a lot! Nice and flexy.

It seems fine. Not sure that it's a value above lots of other blue inks, but it was free with the pen. :D

I have about 5 or 7 preppies, and these pens are amazing. they consistently write very well, and come in so many colors. The price point is on the low end almost to be disposable. However, if you treat it well, you can continue to use refills!

This is a very nice looking fountain pen and has a hand friendly feel to it.
This fountain pen is a nice alternative to a glass dip pen when using a thicker ink and/or a permanent ink.

The cartridge adapter is another good item to add to one's fountain pen/ink arsenal of tools.
This tool is good to have around for that time when one asks themselves that question, I wish there was an adapter for this.

The Curidas is a special and different fountain pen. It has the convenience and ease of use of a ball point pen and the fine writing of a fountain pen. However it is a big pen with a larger grip than a normal size FP. I am a right hand writer and normally I turn my nib slightly to the left. This is not possible with the Curidas unless I remove the clip. As I carry my pens in my shirt pocket I don't remove the clip. So I changed my grip somehow and I feel fine writing with the Curidas because Platinum has designed the little door bump under the pen so that the major finger can rest confortably under it. Testing the pen for a long writing session is the next step...

Way cheaper than a Pelikan M205 Duo if you want to use fountain pen ink as a highlighter. I plan to use mine as an eyedropper with Noodler's Firefly or Pelikan's fluorescent fountain pen ink with this pen. I bet it will work great for a long-lasting eco-friendly highlighter solution.
