This week’s Dominant Industry Leaf Green ink review is going to serve as a quick introduction to Dominant Industry, a new brand we recently added to inventory in 2022. So, you’ll get a bit of an introduction to one of our newer brands plus a good look at a great green ink. Is it a good choice for an everyday ink? Is it easily read on paper? Does this green ink perform consistently? You’ll have to read on to find out.
All About the Ink Maker: Dominant Industry
Dominant Industry ink company is a fairly new (2020) ink maker from Korea who
produces 38 high quality, unique inks in stunningly shaped bottles. Dominant Industry is a small batch ink maker and they currently offer inks in three separate ink collections:
We have a particular love for their bottle and their packaging (more info to come here in a second), and this week’s ink, Dominant Industry Leaf Green ink, is one of 18 different inks in Dominant Industry’s Standard Series.
All About This Week’s Ink Series: Dominant Industry Standard Ink Series

It’s Time: Dominant Industry Leaf Green Ink Review
Our ink review results should give you a better idea of what to expect if you decide to add this Dominant Industry ink to your collection.
Ink Review Testing Factors (to keep things scientific):
As usual, we used a J. Herbin spiral glass dip pen (with a tip comparable to a medium-fine fountain pen nib) on Rhodia bloc pad paper. (Remember as you read this review that different papers or different nib sizes may produce different results!)
What Sort of Ink Bottle Does Dominant Industry Use?
How Much Do Dominant Industry Inks Cost?
Dominant Industry Leaf Green ink (and all the Dominant Industry Standard ink series inks) are a very reasonably priced mid-range priced ink for a 25 ml size imported fountain pen ink. Shop for the current best prices at PenChalet.com.
How Did This Week’s Ink Fair in the 1-Dip Test?
We use the 1-dip test to see how far one dip can write on paper (dipping the pen into the ink only once). Leaf Green ink very easily wrote across the paper on all three writing samples with lots of ink to spare. (Using only one dip per writing sample “S” “X” and scribble lines, see the image above).
How Fast Does Dominant Industry Leaf Green Ink Dry?
During our Dominant Industry Leaf Green ink review, we saw a dry time of approximately 6-7 seconds with medium saturation, so we’d feel comfortable recommending this as a great everyday green ink choice.
Does This Week’s Fountain Pen Ink Bleed Through?
We saw very slight bleeding during normal use. We also saw slight bleeding during the heavy saturated cotton swab test (but only at the wettest points).
Was There Any Feathering During the Leaf Green Ink Review?
We saw no feathering during normal use on Rhodia paper, and just some very slight feathering during the water test (which is expected for non-waterproof ink).
How Does the Ink Stand Up to Water?
Dominant Industry Leaf Geen ink is not meant to be waterproof, but we put it to the test anyway. For the water test we let our ink sample dry for about 3 minutes before we run a wet cotton swab over the sample to observe the effect. Here are the results we saw during today’s review:
- Light color smearing
- Lines still very legible
- Some very slight distortion
- Some line fading
Does Dominant Industry Leaf Green Ink Have Good Shading Traits?
Dominant Industry Leaf Green ink showed some nice shading possibilities. If you’re looking for shading, just take advantage of the right nib (and your penmanship will also make a difference in the shading of the ink).
Final Conclusion on Dominant Industry Leaf Green Ink:
Dominant Industry Leaf Green ink is a reasonably priced ink for the 25ml imported bottle size. We enjoyed the nice, dark leaf green color (it’s not your typical forest green). With an approx. 6-7 second dry time and nice shading possibilities, this green ink is a fun choice for an everyday ink. Dominant Industry inks are made in Korea (and this ink company is fairly new to the industry). Their inks have been well-liked so far, and their ink bottle and packaging is a huge hit – we admit – we can’t get enough of that droplet-shaped glass ink bottle. Happy writing from Korea!
