The barrel of each Montegrappa Shema Israel Pen is engraved with the Jewish prayer Shema Yisrael (Hebrew ,עַמְׁש`Listen ‘). The Credo Shema Yisroel pays tribute to the prayer as part of Jewish religious culture. The prayers proclaims the unity of God and the lasting relationship between the Jewish people, the main idea of Judaism. The inscription on the pen is in Hebrew and translates into “Hear, O Israel, the Lord Our God, The Lord In One.

The pen is also decorated with other Jewish symbols such as the Star of David on the cap and the nib of the fountain pen. The cap is also decorated with three crystals, repeating colors of the national flag of Israel. The barrel is engraved with the classic symbol of peace, a palm leaf, a menorah and of course the Shema Yisrael prayer. Also on the pen is a letter of the Hebrew alphabet, denoting life.
