BunguBox LAmant Ink Bottle

Bungubox L’Amant Ink

Bungubox L’Amant Ink is one of the 11 Bungubox fountain pen inks we currently have available for sale. Bungubox inks, which are made by Sailor Pen Company, previously exclusively for Bungubox Pen Store in Japan, have just been released to America. Bungubox inks are fantastic inks that have come with lots of fanfare to our shores since being released. Bungubox inks, also known as “Bung Box inks” have wonderful characteristics. They are very gentle on fountain pens and are known for their fantastic shading and sheening.

Bungubox L’Amant ink lives up to the hype. The ink is a wonderful bright vibrant purple. The name, L’Amant, comes from the verbal expression of love and the purple color has been inspired by religious vestments.

During our review of the Bungubox L’Amant ink, we found a significant amount of shading, even using a glass dip pen. There was also a slight bit of green/gold sheening during the cotton swab test. Different paper and different nib sizes and wetness will continue to modify and expand upon our review results.

unguBox LAmant Ink Review

unguBox LAmant Ink Review

We noticed the following characteristics while testing Bungubox L’Amant ink that we hope you may find useful:

Testing Factors

For our review of Bungubox L’Amant ink we used French made Rhodia dot pad paper with a J. Herbin glass spiral dip pen, which has a tip that is equivalent to a fine fountain pen nib.

Bottle Sizes

Bungubox L’Amant ink, as do all Bungubox inks, comes in a the standard Sailor shaped 50 ml. glass bottle. The cylindrical bottle has a great shape that can be placed on its side to obtain those last few drops of ink. Furthermore, each Bungubox ink bottle comes with an internal ink reservoir, allowing the writer to easily fill his or her fountain pen. The Bungubox ink box, however is not a standard Sailor sized box. It is much taller, due to having a built in and ingenious cardboard “cushion” which is designed to help protect the ink bottle during storage and or shipping.

Cost

Bungubox inks are at the top end of the ink price spectrum and retail for $43.00 per bottle. Because it is such an extraordinary ink, the higher price has not stopped consumers from picking up a bottle .

Dry Time

During our review of Bungubox L’Amant ink we found a dry time of approximately 6 seconds using Rhodia paper with a dip pen. This is certainly quick enough for everyday use both at home or in the office.

Bleed Through

We experienced absolutely no bleeding during our review of Bungubox L’Amant ink, even during the cotton swab test.

Feathering

During our review of Bungubox L’Amant ink we did not notice any feathering during normal use. During the water test, at the very wettest points there was some line distortion and feathering.

Water Test

Bungubox L’Amant ink is not a waterproof ink, but stood up well to the water test. The lines remained pretty clean and distinct except at the wettest points. There was significant color smear during the water test, which is typical with bright vibrant colors such as L’Amant.

Shading

Shading is where Bungubox inks excel and L’Amant has lived up to the hype. The shading is fantastic, with a light purple-pink color to a deep violet and all the shades in between. We found significant shading, even using the glass dip pen, which has very little line variation ability. We also noticed a small bit of green-gold sheen at the wettest points of the cotton swab test. On paper that sheens well, such as Tome River paper, you will experience even more.

In Conclusion

Bungubox L’Amant ink is just one of many Bungubox inks that have hit the US market. They are expensive, but have wonderful shading and sheening traits, quick dry time and are pretty exclusive in the United States. Bungubox inks are easy and safe to use on all your fountain pens, they come in a protective unique cardboard box and is just cool to answer the question, what brand of ink is that? “Why it’s a Bung Box ink”. We are an authorized American retailer of Bungubox inks and are ready to ship your bottle to you today.

Great color! I’d love to see more reviews of the more expensive inks you carry, the Bungubox, Caran d’Ache Chromatics, Nagasawa Kobe, and Stipula. I’d be less anxious to committing to the cost of the ink if it’s been reviewed.

My current favorite ink is Diamine Sherwood Green. I’m a sucker for greens. I’m looking to branch out, though, and purples aren’t an ink color I’ve attempted yet.

Purple inks are a favorite (right up there with vivid blues). I really need to add some variety! Not many warm colors in my ink collection yet, just vivid jewel tones.
