Meet the Ink Maker: Tono & Lims

First Impressions: Bottle and Packaging

True Love Ink Review: Today’s Ink!

Let’s get to know today’s ink a little bit before we dive into looking at the results of the ink review tests! We’ll get into the ink’s shading traits more below in the Shading section, but before we dive in, we wanted to make a particular effort to point out a fairly rare property this ink brings to the table: it’s scented. It’s not the only scented ink on the market, and it won’t be the last, but we enjoy seeing something different come across our desk, so it’s worth taking note! Ton.o + Lims Limited Edition True Love fountain pen ink brings the fragrance of olive blossoms – a captivating addition to this already lovely ink that somehow brings to mind the charm of a quiet town with olive trees in bloom.

Writing Experience: the 1-Dip Test
Using a J. Herbin glass dip pen on Rhodia lined paper, Tono & Lims True Love ink performed beautifully. A single dip provided enough ink to write three full lines, a testament to its excellent flow and saturation. The vibrant orange color showed up surprisingly well, proving highly legible and enjoyable to use (even for orange ink).
How Fast Did the Ink Dry?

Dry time was around 20 seconds, a respectable result for such a vibrant ink, especially on Rhodia paper.
Does Tono & Lims True Love Ink Show Any Shading Traits?
True Love ink boasts fantastic shading traits, with Tono & Lims True Love ink is a golden orange shader that veers from a dark red-orange shade to an effervescent gold-yellow. The deep, lively orange adds an interesting dimension to writing that I think you’ll enjoy. (The cotton swab test further highlighted its rich tones – make sure to take a peek at the image. We tried to capture it for you).

How Does the Ink Handle Exposure to Water?

When subjected to a water test, the ink exhibited significant running and fading. Lines became nearly invisible, and some feathering occurred. (This is not overly surprising since the ink was not designed to be water-resistant or waterproof.) Interestingly, the ink transformed into a bright yellow hue when exposed to water, adding a curious twist for those who enjoy experimenting with their inks.
Was there any Feathering or Bleeding During the True Love Ink Review?
Rhodia paper proved to be an excellent match for this ink. There was no bleed-through or feathering during regular use, so with this pairing, you should enjoy a smooth and satisfying writing experience.
Final Thoughts: True Love Ink Review

This vibrant orange ink is a standout choice for pen and ink fans or artists seeking a unique, high-quality addition to their ink selection. Its floral olive blossom fragrance adds an unexpected sensory layer, making every writing session a delight.Whether you’re journaling, writing a letter, or creating art, the True Love fountain pen ink will fill every stroke with beauty, emotion, and a touch of fragrance.

You’re so welcome – glad you enjoyed the review and discovered a new ink!
That’s such a beautiful color. Being a left-hander, I have to be so careful with inking.
I’m glad you like it! And I bet you do have to be careful as a left hander. I can’t deny – I’m glad I don’t have to face that particular issue!
Nice color, the intensity looks great…. bit I would like to see how fast it dries on paper of 250gr. Thanks
I haven’t had this suggestion come through before – I like the idea of incorporating a heavier weight paper into the testing. I’ll see what I can do!
All of the articles I’ve read have been so interesting! I’ve been wanting to stop using disposable pens for a while, but I’m not sure where to start…
I found your site through the giveaway, and I’m not familiar enough with inks to suggest one for you to review, I’m glad to have discovered your blog and I’m looking forward to learning more!

I like that the color is not TN-Vols orange, and it has a special yellow coming through!
Glad you like it – I found myself smiling as I put it down on paper. I love when that happens. 🙂
I’m not sure what ink to suggest you review I haven’t really used any before. The ink above seems like a lovely ink and really love it has fragrance.

Beautiful! I’m new here and didn’t even know about this! I would love to see a review on any of the purple shades of the various ink types. I adore purple!
Wonderful – it’s been a while since we reviewed a purple ink. I think that’s a good idea.
