Taccia Pens — Brand FAQs
Who is Taccia and what are they known for?
Taccia is a Japanese-American writing brand known for elegant design, quality materials, and collaborations with Japanese craftsmen—offering fountain, rollerball, and ballpoint pens with strong value and aesthetics.
What are Taccia’s signature pen lines?
Pinnacle, Spectrum, Hiro, and artisanal lacquer/urushi series headline the range, with special editions released periodically in unique colors and finishes.
Which nib sizes are available and how do Taccia nibs write?
Most models offer EF, F, M, and B (with occasional stub/italic options). Expect smooth, controlled flow suited to daily notes on ordinary paper and expressive shading on premium paper.
What filling systems do Taccia fountain pens use?
Cartridge/converter is most common for convenience and easy cleaning. Check the specific model’s specs for included converter and cartridge compatibility.
What materials does Taccia use for its pens?
Turned acrylic resins, metal sections and trims, and on select series, hand-applied lacquer or urushi inspired finishes with traditional Japanese techniques.
Do Taccia fountain pens post well, and how is the balance?
Most can be used posted or unposted. Balance is generally comfortable for medium to long sessions; try both to match your grip and preferred weight distribution.
Are Taccia pens suitable for everyday carry (EDC)?
Yes—robust clips, reliable sections, and good cap seals suit daily use. Store in a sleeve to protect finishes, especially lacquer or urushi models.
How do I clean and maintain a Taccia fountain pen?
Flush nib and converter with cool water every few weeks or when changing inks. Avoid hot water or alcohol on pen parts. Let components dry fully before re-inking.
Which inks pair best with Taccia pens?
Most dye-based inks work well. If using highly saturated, permanent, or shimmering inks, clean more frequently to keep the feed clear—especially in finer nibs.
What nib size is best for office paper versus fountain-pen-friendly paper?
Office paper: Fine or Medium to minimize bleed. Premium paper: Medium, Broad, or stub to showcase shading and ink character.
Are Taccia pens good for left-handed writers?
Yes. The nibs are tuned for smooth, controlled flow. Left-handers often prefer Fine/Medium with moderately quick-drying inks for cleaner results.
Does Taccia release limited or seasonal editions?
Yes—special colorways and artisan finishes appear throughout the year. Popular runs can sell out quickly, so consider purchasing when available.
What warranty do Taccia pens include and how do I get service?
Taccia provides manufacturer warranty coverage against defects (terms vary by model/region). Keep your receipt and contact your retailer or an authorized service center for assistance.
Which Taccia is best as a first purchase?
Value daily writer: a cartridge/converter model in Fine or Medium. Showpiece: an artisan-finish or lacquer series in Medium/Broad to highlight ink shading on premium paper.
Any travel tips for flying with a Taccia fountain pen?
Fly with the reservoir full or empty, store nib-up, and open slowly after landing to equalize pressure. Use a pen sleeve to protect the finish in transit.

Customer Reviews

Roll is gorgeous. Internal pouches protect your cherished pens. Tried to put two pens in each of the four pockets but felt it was two cramped.

I am going through a phase of loving brown inks again. I have lots of brown inks, and I loved the sample, and used it in my Monteverde Expresso pen. It writes very nice, and I am torn between the sample color and the LAMY Sepia ink! HELP!!!!

Taccia’s Ukiyo-e ink line is easily one of the most beautiful ink collections I’ve ever written with. I picked up a bottle in Natane color recently out of curiosity and it quickly became a favorite in my rotation. I tested it in my Monteverde MP1 OmniFlex fountain pen, and the flow was smooth and reliable with no railroading, even during heavier flex writing. The ink has just the right viscosity—it’s not overly wet, but it keeps up with expressive strokes effortlessly. The color I chose, Natane, is rich, complex, and layered. What I love most about it is how it mirrors the mood and artistry of traditional Japanese woodblock prints—it really lives up to the “Ukiyo-e” name. There's often subtle shading, and on higher-quality paper like Tomoe River or Midori, you get a gorgeous depth that feels like it belongs in an art studio as much as a writing desk. Dry time is reasonable—especially for such a saturated ink. I didn’t experience feathering or bleed-through, even when journaling on thinner paper stock. It’s a very well-behaved ink all around. And the packaging? Absolutely stunning. The box features classic Japanese artwork that makes it feel like you're unboxing a piece of history. The glass bottle is elegant and sturdy, with a wide enough mouth for easy filling. Final thoughts: If you’re someone who appreciates both writing and art, the Taccia Ukiyo-e line and specifically Natane ink color feels like the perfect blend of both. It’s one of those inks that makes writing feel like a calming, creative ritual. I’ll definitely be picking up more colors from this line. It also makes a very special gift due to the special packaging.

I got the Parchment Swirls . It is gorgeous and i love it. It writes very smooth right out of the box and it has a bit of feedback without being scratchy . The pen is smaller than i thought but if you post it it becomes very long . My first Taccia and hopefully not my last .

The lining is velvety to touch. The best feature is the elastic band that keeps the pen secure on each slot, which you can't really find anywhere else. The long cover flap ensures that your pen will not fly away by any centrifugal force. The outer material is quite thick to cushion your pens. Worth every penny.

The Perfect Pen-
I am gaining a great appreciation for Taccia nibs, beyond their beauty the feel and finish is very extremely pleasing to write with. The nib sparkles like a jewel.
I bought a Fine. It’s writes with smooth precision, ink of all sorts flows well., with a slight bit of beautful “fresh sharpened pencil” sensation (Zero scratch).
I appreciate being able to use sailor cartridges. I love the peacock blue and Yolonga. For work or travel a three pack of cartridges and my Taccia work flawlessly.
I have used this pen constantly for two months to write teeny tiny notes, and numbers.
I can’t imagine a time when I won’t want it inked.
The cap shelters the pen in its sheath Like a sword.
I love the security of this “pen in sheath” after my last experience.
Taccia on top of being secure has the most uniquely gorgeous resin.
You won’t say..” I’ve see this before” somewhere”.
The resin is complexly exquisite, thick and dense without being over weighted. The pen has perfect balance.
The grip section is comfortable and does not make my fingers go numb, on long writing sessions.
I’m infatuated.

Most "Vivid" and saturated Pink that I have been able to find. It's not as subdued as Diamine Flaming Pink and more of a true pink than Diamine Hope Pink.
One of my top 10 inks, for sure.

Sabimidori is one of my favorite inks ever! Beautiful rusty sheen and a deep dusky color that’s either blue or green depending on the paper. It also is much more smear resistant than a lot of sheening inks.
