The beautiful medium purple color, with a deep wine purple tint is from the oldest ink manufacturer in the world, J Herbin. We have found that J Herbin Poussiere De Lune contains the following characteristics, which we hope will be helpful to you in choosing your next ink color:

Testing Factors

We used standard 8.5 x 11, Rhodia Block N. 18 graph paper, which is made in France along with a glass style dip pen made by J Herbin, which has an extra fine sized writing tip.

Bottle Sizes

All J Herbin inks, except for the 1670 Anniversary inks, come in three sizes, the standard J Herbin 30 ml. glass ink bottle and a J Herbin 10 ml. sample bottle size, in addition to the large J Herbin 100 ml. ink bottle. I love the smaller bottles, which are inexpensive in order to try out a new ink color and allows you to take various colors of inks with you when you travel as well. The larger 30 ml. bottle has a unique squared bottle, with rounded corners and a large bottle neck opening. Each 30 ml. bottle also has a unique indented pen rest on the front of the bottle, which can be helpful when filling your favorite fountain pen. Pen Chalet also carries a wide selection of the large 100 ml. plastic bottles of J Herbin inks in the most popular colors.

Cost

The J Herbin Poussiere De Lune ink bottles, imported from France retails for $6.00 (10 ml. bottles); $10.00 (30 ml. bottles) and $26.00 (100 ml. bottles), which makes J Herbin Ink company one of the best in providing options in colors, size and cost for beautiful imported fountain pen ink colors and variations.

Dry Time

We found that J Herbin Poussiere De Lune ink dry time was approximately 6 seconds, which makes it a very reasonable dry time. However, we were using a glass dip pen with an extra fine equivalent writing tip. Obviously the larger nib size used the dry time will be extended.

Bleed Through

We found no bleed through whatsoever using the pen and paper referenced above. Even with the multiple swabs, there was no bleeding through to the back of the Rhodia paper.

Feathering

Again with the pen and paper we used, there was no observable feathering at all. The J Herbin Poussiere De Lune ink produced very dark, crisp, distinct lines. The ink will feather when water is placed on the ink, so this ink is not waterproof.

Water Test

We ran a wet cotton swab over our writing sample using the J Herbin Poussiere De Lune ink and after a 3 minute dry time, the ink still smeared and had a run of color, but is still readable.

Shading

The J Herbin Poussiere De Lune ink will produce some decent shading. Like with most inks, the larger the nib sized pen used, the more shading effect will be noticed.

Conclusion about the J Herbin Poussiere De Lune Ink

We love this ink, it has always been a top seller at Pen Chalet and is a customer favorite. The options for bottle sizes fits all price points, is affordable, high quality imported French ink that you can try for a $6.00 10 ml. bottle. Lastly, the name makes this ink a must have in every collection, who doesn’t want to own some “moon dust”, it is out of this world!
