Storm Cloud ink is housed in a sturdy glass square 30ml bottle with a stable base, ensuring stability during use. While small, the bottles feel heavy and sturdy. The packaging also seems to be of high quality both in look and feel. The Storm Cloud ink’s exterior packaging matches the label on the ink bottle.
Both designate the ink line, the ink name, the ink color (in the graphic image representing the ink), the size of the ink bottle, and the type of ink (although the size of the bottle, label, and packaging means the info is in a small text that you may wish was larger if you’re interested in reading all the info). The Exclusive Monthly Line inks feature labels/packaging in the same general layout to create a cohesive feel for the collection.
How Fast Does the Ink Dry?
The dry time for Storm Cloud ink is approximately 20 seconds, which is moderate and should accommodate most writing styles and needs.
Does the Ink Bleed Through on Paper?
Storm Cloud ink showed no bleed-through during our standard writing tests on Rhodia lined paper, indicating excellent performance on quality paper.
Was There Any Feathering?
We observed no ink feathering during normal use with our fountain pen-friendly Rhodia lined paper, maintaining clean and crisp lines.
How Does the Ink Respond to Water?
During the water test, the ink exhibited significant running and some fading of lines. Minimal feathering was observed, but there was no bleed-through on the Rhodia paper. The blue tones in the ink became more noticeable after exposure to water.
Putting the Ink to the 1-Dip Test
The 1-dip test demonstrated impressive results. A single dip of the J. Herbin glass dip pen allowed us to write three full lines on the Rhodia paper, with ink still remaining on the nib.
