Snow Crystal vs Periwinkle Twinkle Ink side by side comparisons show some obvious differences, and some not so obvious differences. Pilot Iroshizuku Rikka (Snow Crystal) ink is the bright sky blue of Ama-Iro ink with a slight green tinge added, offering some lovely shading possibilities and some VERY low sheen potential that I don’t really see in my ink testing so far. Dominant Industry Periwinkle Twinkle ink approaches “blue” from a different direction. One of Dominant Industry’s Pearl series inks, the purple-toned blue features a beautiful rose gold shimmer. Periwinkle Twinkle has no sheen, and some shading, but the star is definitely the pearlescent shimmer. Both inks are great performers with an average ink flow.

On a side note, both of these inks have top notch packaging.

How Fast Do they Dry? Not that fast. Rikka (aka Snow Crystal ink) shows a dry time around 20 seconds with Dominant Industry’s Periwinkle Twinkle showing a bit of a longer dry time around 30 seconds. (However, that’s absolutely expected since Rikka is not a shimmer ink, and Periwinkle Twinkle has a strong shimmer element).

Which One Handles Water Exposure Better? Rikka stands up to water a little bit better than Dominant Industry’s Periwinkle Twinkle, but neither of them is anywhere near water resistant.

Ink Flow: Both of the inks have a pretty average ink flow.

Conclusion: Two Blues, Two Vibes
