Organics Studio Arginine Ink Bottle

Organics Studio Arginine Ink – Amino Acid Series

Organics Studio inks are handcrafted in Maryland, USA, by Tyler Thompson, who has become an ink guru in the industry, producing new and exciting ink colors and varieties. His inks come in several different series such as Masters of Writing, Masters of Science and Element series of inks. The newest line, Organics Studio Amino Acid inks is a shimmer ink series released in 2018.

Each new Organics Studio ink color in this new series is based upon an amino acid. The Organics Studio Arginine ink has been named after the amino acid Arginine, which is useful in the body to open up blood vessels, including those in the heart. Arginine ink, Organics Studio’s version of this amino acid, is a vibrant orange color with pink shimmer added. The effect is quite interesting and unique. The ink is perfect for letter, note, journal and other home uses. The orange color shows up dark and has medium to high saturation.

Organics Studio Arginine Ink Review

Organics Studio Arginine Ink Review

During our review of Organics Studio Arginine ink we found the following traits, which you may find helpful when choosing your next ink color:

Testing Factors

We used Rhodia dot pad paper with a French made J. Herbin spiral glass dip pen for our review of for our review of Organics Studio Arginine ink. The J. Herbin glass dip pen has a tip that is similar to a fine fountain pen nib.

Bottle Sizes

Organics Studio inks come in a standard large mouth plastic 55 ml. bottle. Each bottle is simply labeled with a white sticker containing the letters “Arg” on the front. The box is corrugated cardboard with an interesting label including the Arginine chemical structure on the front.

Cost

Organics Studio Arginine ink retails for $16.00, but is available at Pen Chalet for less than full retail price. Organics Studio inks are lower mid-ranged priced inks, well regarded and a good value, especially for an America made hand-crafted ink.

Dry Time

Although Organics Studio Arginine ink has medium to high saturation, it still has a very quick dry time. During our review of Organics Studio Arginine ink we found a dry time of approximately 5 seconds, which is very quick for shimmering ink. Using other paper and writing instruments may produce different results.

Bleed Through

During normal use we found no color bleeding or show through using Rhodia paper. However, during our cotton swab test, where we used a large amount of ink, we found a very slight color show through but no actual bleeding.

Feathering

During normal use we found no feathering or line distortion. Even during the water test we only found slight line distortion and feathering, making Organics Studio Arginine ink one of those few non-waterproof inks that hold up pretty well during the water test.

Water Test

During our review of Organics Studio Arginine ink we conducted a water test by running a wet cotton swab over the dried ink sample. Organics Studio Arginine ink is not a waterproof ink but it held up quite well, with some light color smearing and slight line distortion. Overall, it held up quite well.

Shading and Shimmer

Organics Studio Arginine ink provides some shading opportunities with a dark orange color at its wettest points to a light soft orange with dryer lines. In addition to the shading, Organics Studio Arginine ink is a shimmering ink, with a light purple-pink shimmer contained in the vibrant orange color. You can control the amount of shimmer based upon how well you shake the ink bottle prior to filing your fountain pen, or using your dip pen.

Conclusion about the Organics Studio Arginine Ink

Shimmering inks are not for everyone, but the combination contained in Organics Studio Arginine ink is very unique and is sure to please. It has great characteristics, fast dry time, economically priced, and holds up well on Rhodia paper even under the water test. Organics Studio Arginine ink would be a perfect letter, journal or note writing ink. As with any sheening or shimmering ink its important to clean your fountain pen periodically to avoid unwanted clogging. Pen Chalet pen flush is a great tool to make this a simple periodic task. We carry all Organics Studio ink colors and are happy to see the new shimmering Amino Acid Series of inks.

I recently got a sample of this from…somewhere, and I really love it. I’ve been thinking about buying a bottle when it shows up on this site. I guess that’s now.

I’ve tried samples of each of the Amino Acid inks, and while they’re all cool in their own ways, Arginine is uniquely vibrant – it really pops, especially on whiter paper.

I am interested in an explanation of the Robert Oster inks, in terms of different series and categories. It’s too overwhelming to think of the entire range of inks together.

This looks like a lovely ink. I’m really loving orange inks lately and the addition of shimmer just makes this that much better. I also like that it’s pink shimmer instead of the typical gold or silver shimmer.

As for new reviews, I’d like to see more reviews of Krishna inks.
