We noticed the following characteristics while testing Noodlers Polar Purple Ink that you may find helpful.
Testing Factors
For our review, we used a French made J. Herbin glass spiral dip pen on Rhodia dot pad paper. The dip pen has a tip that is similar to a fine fountain pen nib.
Bottle Sizes
Noodlers ink comes in a large capacity 3 oz. glass bottle, which is about 89 ml. Each bottle is filled to the brim, so be careful when opening. Noodlers inks, all come in a simple Noodlers cardboard box with a stamp of the ink color on the top. However, the labels on each color of Noodlers ink contain unique and interesting artwork depicting the ink’s name and color. Noodlers Polar Purple Ink is no different with an arctic scene of a polar bear, seal and penguins.
Cost
Noodlers Polar Purple Ink is a great value at only $12.50 for this US manufactured ink. This makes Noodlers ink on the value or economic ink price range, especially due to the size of the bottle.
Dry Time
Using the glass dip pen, we found a lighting fast dry time of less than 1 second, as we couldn’t get a smear using this ink in a normal fashion. This has been one of the fastest drying inks we have ever tested.
Bleed Through
During normal use, we found a very, very small amount of bleeding on Rhodia paper. However, during the cotton swab test, more bleeding was apparent especially with at the wettest portions of the test.
Feathering
We perceived no feathering at all using Noodlers Polar Purple Ink, even during the water test.
Water Test
During our water test, where we run a soaking wet cotton swab over an ink sample that has dried for about 3 minutes, we found that Noodlers Polar Purple Ink is absolutely waterproof. There was no color smearing, no smudging, no feathering, etc.
Shading
We found that Noodlers Polar Purple Ink was pretty consistent in its coloring and did not experience much shading using this ink.
