Diamine Pumpkin Ink: We wanted to thank you for all of your responses to our previous ink reviews and giveaways! There have been many of you who have asked for a fall themed ink review, and we are happy to oblige. So, to celebrate fall, we are reviewing the Diamine Pumpkin Ink. Diamine has been making inks for 150 years, and has always produced quality. Pumpkin definitely has lived up to that reputation.
As our treat, continuing reading for a chance to win the bottle of Diamine Pumpkin Ink we used for this review.
While testing Diamine Pumpkin, we found the following characteristics that you may find helpful:
Testing Factors
We used a J. Herbin dip pen on a Rhodia dot pad. The dip pen lays a line similar to a Japanese Fine.
Bottle Sizes
There are two options available when purchasing Diamine fountain pen ink. They come in 30ml plastic bottles, or in 80ml glass bottles. The Diamine Pumpkin ink that we used in this review was a 30ml plastic bottle.
Cost
A 30ml bottle of Diamine ink weighs in at only $7.00 USD. That’s a great price for such high quality ink. If you love Pumpkin and just can’t get enough of it, the 80ml bottles are only $15.00 USD.
Dry Time
Diamine Inks’ dry times vary from ink to ink. Diamine Pumpkin had a dry time of roughly 14-15 seconds. This is a slower dry time, but there are many benefits that outweigh this minor inconvenience.
Bleed Through
We experienced absolutely no bleeding while testing the Diamine Pumpkin Ink, not even where the ink pooled.
Feathering
There was no feathering during our test with Rhodia Paper. However, although results may vary from paper to paper.
Water Test
We let the Diamine Pumpkin Ink dry for about three minutes, then we ran a wet cotton swab over it. Pumpkin is clearly not a waterproof ink. The grid we drew smeared, bled, and even showed feathering. If you’re looking for waterproof, you’re out of luck here.
Shading
Although Diamine Pumpkin Ink is a beautiful color, we were unable to produce any shading in this review. You might be able to produce some shading through the use of a broader nib. However, Pumpkin holds it’s own despite the lack of shading.
Conclusion about the Diamine Pumpkin Ink
Diamine Pumpkin Ink is a great way to usher in this fall season. Whether you want to find that perfect combo with your fall pen, or you simply love pumpkins, Diamine Pumpkin Ink is a must have.

Diamine Pumpkin is a wonderful ink. Really enjoyed writing with a sample of it.
Diamine inks are my favorite. They have such gorgeous colors and they aren’t too wet but write well even in an extra fine nib.

Orange is one of my favorite colors
I wonder how this compares to Sailor Apricot
Could you mix the orange with Diamine chocolate brown to make pumpkin pie?
This wasn’t exactly my favorite ink at first. After a while, it has started to grow on me. It’s a great ink to use for highlighting messages and homework. It really does stand out like an orange cone on a highway of boredom.
It would be cool if you would review the new Reddit ink, Diamine Earl Grey!
Gorgeous orange! Would love to try it! Will have to get some.
