Monteverde Regatta Fountain Pen

Monteverde Regatta Fountain Pen

Hopefully everyone has had an enjoyable week thus far. We’re bringing you a review of the Monteverde Regatta Fountain Pen this week, and it’s one we’re excited about. Monteverde is a great company that makes pens that range from a beginner level, to collector level. One thing they are known for is making pens that look great, and that don’t break the budget.

Continue reading below for your chance to win the Monteverde Regatta Fountain Pen that we used in this review.

Appearance

Monteverde Regatta Fountain Pen

Monteverde Regatta Fountain Pen

The Monteverde Regatta Fountain Pen is regularly available in 5 colors, but is also available in the  Monteverde Regatta Limited Edition Northern Lights fountain pen color. Pictured in this review is the Blue Carbon color. The barrel and the cap have alternating bands of colored metal and carbon fiber, that come together to make a stunning look. Each color Regatta also comes with a black nib to match the black carbon fiber. All in all, it’s a great looking pen.

Qualities

One great quality of the Monteverde Regatta Fountain Pen is the magnetic cap. The cap removes easily, stays secure, and even can be posted. While posted, the magnetic cap will attach to the back end of the body. The Regatta is a very affordable all-metal pen and takes standard international cartridges and converters, and even comes with a converter and two ink cartridges. One thing to consider is that this is a heavy pen. It weighs almost 2 oz.! For those of you who like some good heft, this is a pen for you!

Performance

We, of course, had to put this pen to the test. For this review, we used the Blue Carbon Monteverde Regatta Fountain Pen with a Medium Nib. Also, we used KWZ El Dorado ink for this review. The nib on this pen worked great, right out of the box. The medium nib laid down a nice wet line, and we were able to produce some great shading. Writing was also very nice and smooth, with just a touch of feedback.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the Monteverde Regatta Series Fountain Pen is a great pen for beginners, or for collectors. If you’re looking for a hefty pen, or for an innovative capping system, the Regatta is for you! Please don’t forget to comment below and to share this with your friends! This pen looks to be another winner from Monteverde. I’d like to see a review of J. Herbin’s Amythiste de l’Oural ink.

Want to try a Monteverde nib. This pen is a heavy one, right?

And does the body jutting out right above the grip section affect the comfort at all?

That certainly is a beautiful pen anyone should enjoy using. Would you explain urishi pens? Is that different than Chinese lacquer?
