Momento Zero Releases: March 2021

These pens are made of resin with stainless steel nibs, and take an international cartridge or converter (threaded converter included). Pens come in a gift box and include a lifetime guarantee.

March 2021 Momento Zero and Exclusive Momento Zeros: A Closer Look

Prugna (Plum) and Alga (Seaweed) are both beautiful spaghetti resins. Prugna (Plum) features shades of purple while Alga (Seaweed) shows off varying shades of green. This same resin is seen in the regular Momento Zero line, but paired with Black Trim is a Pen Chalet Exclusive.

The three new Exclusive Momento Zeros made of Ebonite include the Black/Yellow Ebonite, Emerald Green Ebonite, and Colorful Ebonite. The Black/Yellow Ebonite features an almost feathered-looking combination of black and yellow ebonite on the barrel with glossy black cap and section and gold trim (nib plated to match). The Emerald Green Ebonite pen features vertical striations in the ebonite barrel in greens, browns, and blacks alongside a glossy black cap/section with black trim (nib plated to match). The Colorful pen features purple, blue and red vertical striations in the ebonite barrel alongside glossy black section/cap, and rose gold trim (nib plated to match).

The new Exclusive Momento Zero made of Celluloid features varying shades of blue accented by metallic shades of gray (veering from almost white to almost black) paired with glossy black cap/section and black trim (nib plated to match).

Leonardo’s Made Some Changes: That New Jowo Nib

Momento Zero fountain pens used to come with a Bock nib, but new Momento Zero fountain pens feature a new Jowo nib (German-made, and known for consistent quality). The Jowo nib is customized with Leonardo Officina Italiana branding, and the internal hole of the feed was widened to offer increased ink flow. The new Jowo nib is a great performer right from the start – you can expect a wet flow and smooth lines.

Phasing Out the Old Bock Nib and Replacing with the New: It’s a Process

While Leonardo Momento Zero fountain pens don’t tend to hang around on the shelf, there are still a few “old” Momento Zero pens in stock that still have the Bock nib. Leonardo will be phasing them out, so all new shipments will have the Jowo nib. The new Jowo nib units are not compatible with the Bock nib units. The new Jowo nib units will also be replacing Bock nibs on Leonardo Officina Italiana’s other pen collections as well (like the Furore Grande).

Two More New and Exciting Changes You’ll See on Momento Zeros & Exclusive Momento Zeros

You’ll also notice a few other changes from Leonardo pens in addition to the new Jowo nib. Starting with the 2021 Momento Zero release, the popular pen design will feature a thinner pen clip (similar to those seen on the Leonardo Officina Italiana Furore Grande pen), and three cap bands instead of the previous two.
