A New Chapter Begins at Pen Chalet with Pen Palette

It started with a class.
Just one.

Ken signed up for what he described as a “quick, beginner-friendly introduction to painting.” Nothing major. Just a casual evening of “learning something new.”

And at first…everything seemed normal.

Then the palettes showed up.

At first, it was just one sitting on his desk. Then another. Then suddenly, there were palettes everywhere—next to keyboards, stacked near shipping stations, casually replacing perfectly functional pen trays.

We didn’t think much of it.

Then came the language shift.

Ken stopped “writing things down” and started “expressing things in color.”
Meeting notes became “layered compositions.”
Ink swatches became “studies.”

We mostly nodded and kept working.

And then, one day, he said something that made us pause:

“We’re not a pen company…we’re a color company.”

Quote graphic reading “We’re not a pen company… we’re a color company.” attributed to Ken, featured in Pen Chalet’s Pen Palette April Fool’s Day campaign.

That was the moment.

Not because we agreed.
But because we realized…things were getting serious.

After years of serving pen collectors, writers, artists, and fountain pen fanatics, we’ve always known there’s something special about ink: the way it moves, shades, and comes to life on the page.

Ken just…took that idea further than we expected.

Welcome to Pen Palette

A name Ken feels “better reflects the direction of the brand.”

We’re still processing that.
But we’re rolling with it.

What This Means (According to Ken)

  • Pens are now precision color applicators
  • Ink is now liquid pigment
  • Swatching is “strongly encouraged”
  • And yes…Ken has thoughts about your color choices now

We’re just here to help you check out.

The Fool’s Fortune Edition Mystery Boxes?
The sticker?

💯 Very real.

*To be quadruple clear: Pen Chalet is not changing its name—this was part of our April Fool’s Day campaign.

Frequently Asked Questions (a.k.a. FAQ):

Q: Is Pen Chalet really changing its name to Pen Palette?

A: No—this was all part of our April Fool’s Day prank. Pen Chalet is still Pen Chalet, and we’re not changing our name.

Q: Is the April Fool’s Day sale real?

A: Yes. While the name change was a joke, the April Fool’s Day Sale is very real and features limited-time deals on pens, inks, and writing accessories.

Q: Are the Mystery Boxes part of the April Fool’s promotion?

A: Yes. Our April Fool’s Day Mystery Boxes are available in limited quantities and include a curated selection of pens, inks, and accessories. Dubbed The Fool’s Edition, the mystery boxes offers strong value—and one box in each tier has been significantly upgraded.

Q: What does “making a fool of us” mean?

A: One Mystery Box in each tier (Pen Cache, Pen Stash, and Pen Pals) has been upgraded with higher-value items than originally planned. Whoever receives that box will get an unexpectedly incredible deal…at the same price. Such an excellent deal, in fact, that you’d be accurate to call us “fools” for shipping it out to you.

Q: Is the Pen Palette sticker included with every order?

A: Yes, while supplies last. Every order placed during the promotion includes a limited edition Pen Palette April Fool’s Day 2026 sticker. (How many Pen Chalet “names” do you have documented in your sticker collection?)

Q: Are Mystery Boxes eligible for returns?

A: Mystery Boxes are final sale due to their limited nature. However, if you experience an issue with your pen, our customer service team is always happy to help because you should always get to love your new favorite pen and enjoy an amazing writing experience.

Had me going for a second – “We’re a color company” was a great touch – fun read!

Though I realize this was just a joke, we must realize that the written word is just a medium – the “go between” of our thoughts and our audience’s brain. Our pen and ink choices can absolutely influence how well the medium actually does its job. We’re not merely “expressing things in ink” but transferring our thoughts to others through the ink.

Is it also an AFD joke that the coupon code is PALLETTE, rather than PALETTE?…

Okay–I fell for the name change. I was thinking, hmm, preferred “chalet” myself. However, in my defense, I did decide that the mystery boxes were real and ordered one.

Not sure whether there’s a real need for this.
