Krishna Vaikhari Ink is one of 7 Krishna RC series of inks that Dr. Sreekumar has produced and manufactured in India. Dr. Sreekumar, a self-described pen enthusiast and medical doctor created his RC series as his first attempt at producing a variety of “sheentastic” ink colors. Each RC series ink color is produced in limited batches and should be treated as sheening ink, which requires a little extra care and frequency in cleaning your pen. We recommend that you clean your pen out thoroughly every 2-3 weeks when using a high saturation sheening type ink, such as Krishna Vaikhari. Other Krishna RC series ink colors produced by Dr. Sreekumar are Christmas Eve, Gold Fish, Jungle Volcano, Moon View, Sakthy and Winter. Each of these Krishna ink colors have a fantastic color & sheening combination that is unique, interesting and fun to use.
We are a proud carrier of all Krishna inks including their Super Rich Series, with over 32 colors and counting. Please stay tuned and check back often as Dr. Sreekumar is producing many brand new colors that we will be offering as soon as they are available.
Krishna Vaikhari ink is a super unique interesting color of light to medium brown color with a distinctive metallic green sheen. Some paper produces more sheen than others, so be sure to play with different nib sizes and paper to obtain the maximum amount of brown color and green sheen desired.

During our review of Krishna Vaikhari ink we found the following traits that you may find useful:
Testing Factors
For our review of Krishna Vaikhari ink we used French made Rhodia dot pad paper with a J. Herbin glass dip pen. The dip pen has a tip that is equivalent to a fine fountain pen nib.
Bottle Sizes
All Krishna inks come in a small simple 20 ml. square glass bottle with a sealed simple plastic lid. The bottle is simple by design, the cardboard box even simpler, being a basic corrugated brown cardboard with the name of the ink handwritten on the outside of the box. The simplicity of the box and bottle just means you are paying less for the ink not for a fancy presentation, which is actually refreshing.
Cost
Krishna Vaikhari ink is reasonably priced for an ink imported from India. Most of the Krishna inks have a US retail price of $9.00 while the Super Rich Series of Krishna ink are priced even less at $8.00 per bottle.
Dry Time
We experienced a reasonable dry time of about 6-7 seconds during our review of Krishna Vaikhari ink. This is pretty good for a high saturation, sheening ink. Again, for this review we used a glass dip pen on Rhodia paper so other pens with wider nibs and different papers may produce varying results.
Bleed Through
We found absolutely zero bleeding during our review of Krishna Vaikhari ink, even during the cotton swab test where an extra ordinary amount of ink is placed to paper.
Feathering
During normal use, we found no feathering while testing Krishna Vaikhari ink. However, during our water test we did notice some slight feathering and line distortion, which is not unusual for a non-water proof ink.
Water Test
Krishna Vaikhari ink is a water-based ink that is not waterproof. We ran a water test where we ran a soaking wet cotton swab over an ink sample that has dried for about 3 minutes. The results were typical for a dark, non-water proof ink and there was significant color smearing, slight line distortion and feathering. The majority of the sample lines remained dark and clear even through the color smear.
Shading & Sheening
Krishna Vaikhari ink is specifically manufactured by Dr. Skreekumar to be a sheening ink. The shading isn’t too bad either, with light brown lines to a darker brown depending on the stroke and wetness of the nib. The iridescent green almost metallic sheen that comes through the brown color is really unique and interesting.
