Hopefully everyone is getting ready for National Handwriting Day and is checking out our giveaway for the occasion. This week, we’ve decided to bring you another budget-friendly starter pen, the Kaweco Perkeo Fountain Pen. Hailing from the far-away lands of Germany, Kaweco has been making quality pens since 1883. The Perkeo is another great pen in their long line-up of quality pens.

Appearance
The Kaweco Perkeo Fountain Pen comes on a nondescript plastic bag with the Kaweco logo on it. There are four unique colors available for the Perkeo. Pictured in this review from left to right above is the Cotton Candy, Old Chambray, Indian Summer and Bad Taste. The Perkeo has the traditional hexagonal cap like the Kaweco Sport, however, the Perkeo is slightly longer. Unique to the Perkeo, the cap and the barrel are two different colors, which creates some wonderful contrasting. The body and cap are both made from a durable plastic, and the snap on/off cap can be posted.
Qualities
Ringing in at just $16.00 USD the greatest quality about the Perkeo is how affordable it is. Whether you are a first time user, or the hardcore collector, that’s a price that isn’t going to break the bank. The Kaweco Perkeo Fountain Pen does not come with a clip, however the ingenious hexagonal cap prevents your pen from rolling away into a disaster. As with most of Kaweco’s other pens, the Perkeo accepts short international standard cartridges. Also, it will accept any mini international standard converter. For those hoping for another possible inexpensive eye-dropper pen, unfortunately, the Perkeo is not advised to be converted to an eye-dropper system.
Performance
The important question to all this, however, is how does it write? We inked up the Perkeo with Kyoto Tag Nurebario Ink and put it to the test. We used the Cotton Candy with a medium nib and had a smooth writing experience. Although Kaweco is known on occasion to have dry nibs, the Perkeo laid down a nice wet line with even and consistent flow. All in all, a fantastic writing performance, and a must have for your collection.
Conclusion
At the end of the day, the Kaweco Perkeo Fountain Pen is another great pen from a reliable German company. We’re proud to stock it on our shelves, and hope to see many of them on yours.
