Tono & Lims Orbit L2 Ink Review: Test Results
To get a full sense of Tono & Lims Orbit L2 ink, we put it through our standard ink review tests. Here’s how it performed:

Tono & Lims Orbit L2 Ink Review: 1-Dip Test
Orbit L2 impressed us with its efficient ink distribution. With just one dip, we were able to write three full lines without running out of ink, making it an excellent option for dip pen users or those who enjoy inky efficiency.

Dry Time: How Fast Did Orbit L2 Ink Dry?
Dry time for Orbit L2 ink fell between 5 and 10 seconds on Rhodia paper, which is fairly standard for a medium-flow ink. While not the fastest-drying ink, it’s still reasonable for everyday use.

How Did Orbit L2 Do During the Water Test?
Orbit L2 demonstrated good water resistance, though results were somewhat influenced by its lighter color. Some minor ink movement was observed at the top of the testing area, but lines remained visible and readable throughout. There was no bleeding or feathering when exposed to water, and the ink didn’t fade much, making it a decent option if you need a bit of resilience.
Special Properties: Shading, Sheen & Shimmer
While Orbit L2 does not have sheen or shimmer, it does have shading properties. It appears darker in areas where more ink is applied (like when using a cotton swab), while normal writing remains clear and legible. The shading variation adds a nice touch of depth to an otherwise light blue ink.
What About Feathering or Bleeding?
No feathering or bleed-through was observed on Rhodia paper, meaning this ink stays where it belongs—on the page.
What’s the Ink Bottle and Packaging Like?
Tono & Lims really leaned into the Deep Space theme for this ink’s packaging. The box is adorned with stars and satellites, giving it a futuristic, celestial vibe.
The square glass bottle is sturdy and well-designed, with a label that matches the space theme and provides clear ink identification.
If you appreciate great presentation along with great performance, this ink delivers.
Tono & Lims Orbit L2 Ink Review: Final Thoughts
Tono & Lims Orbit L2 is a beautifully themed ink that offers surprising depth despite its lighter blue hue. The Deep Space packaging makes it a standout addition to any ink collection, and its solid performance (no feathering, no bleed-through, decent water resistance) makes it an ink you can rely on. While it may not have sheen or shimmer, its shading properties and ease of readability make it a solid choice for those who love blue inks with a celestial twist. And it’s an interesting addition to your array of everyday inks.

Tono & Lins is a brand I’ve never heard of before, so I appreciate the introduction. Perhaps doing a comparison of Pen Chalet’s favorite blues side by side could be useful for others?
