Review of the Pelikan 605 Fountain Pen
Product Review of the Pelikan Souveran 605 Collection Fountain Pens
When I decided to write a product review of the Pelikan 605 fountain pen it had been a pen I had been eyeing for awhile. To be honest I have always been a big fan of Pelikan pens. I have always liked the look of the Pelikan Souveran fountain pens, especially with the silver colored trim on the Pelikan 605 over the gold trim. With the Pelikan Souveran pens those that end in 05 are silver color trims and those in 00 are gold colored with the first number being the size. For instance a Pelikan 200 and 205 are the same body style and size with the 205 being the silver trim and 200 the gold. As the numbers get larger the pens become either higher quality or larger in size.

Just looking at the Pelikan 605 versus the 205 online or in pictures they don't look much different. The 605 has a couple of extra bands, one at the bottom of the cap and the other at the bottom of the barrel. Other than that they could almost pass as the same pen but they are anything but the same. Initially the most obvious difference is the size. Both Pelikan pens come with the same piston style fill system with a green transparent section to the barrel which is great for viewing the ink levels. Both pens are close to the same diameter with the Pelikan 605 fountain pen being slightly larger. The Pelikan 605 is also about 3/8 of an inch longer. The next difference I noticed is the top of the cap. Both pens have the Pelikan logo but the Pelikan 605 has a chrome color top and the 605 has a black cap top.

One feature I have always liked with Pelikan pens is the Pelikan nib exchange program. One of the toughest decisions for most buyer is which nib size to chose. Pelikan takes the guess work out of it. They let you exchange the nib on the pen within the first 30 days after purchase for free. You just have to send them the pen back and they will swap the nib with another size and ship it back. This program really helps relieve the stress if picking the right nib. Pelikan is a great company to work with and this is just one example of their outstanding customer care.
The Pelikan 605 pen has quickly become one of my favorites fountain pens and I can see why Pelikan has such loyal customers. Out of all the brands we sell, Pelikan pen owners are among the most loyal.
