Product Review of the Delta Dolcevita Mid-Size Collection Fountain Pens

I love the Delta brand and their unique pens. I own many Delta pens such as the Europa, Momo 30th Anniversary Edition, IT demonstrator, Lex, Indigenous Series (Mapuche) pen, etc. Delta makes unique, distinctive and interesting writing instruments, which I truly enjoy.

One of my favorite Delta pens is my Delta Dolcevita fountain pen. Talk about a distinctive pen that is easily recognizable from afar by any pen collector. The Delta Dolcevita has a classic shaped barrel and cap. Black cap with chrome clip with a roller for ease of use and a decorative sterling silver band near the bottom of the cap. The barrel is mostly made of Delta’s distinctive Dolcevita Orange resin with a mother-of-pearl effect, which has a semi shimmer to it. The base of the barrel has a slim chrome ring below which returns to the same black resin as in the cap.

The pen is very ergonomically sound, easy to use and has a great weight and balance, whether used posted or used un-posted. My Dolcevita Slim uses a cartridge/converter ink filling system. I have only used the converter system, which fills flawlessly. The medium 14K gold nib produces a smooth even ink flow, which I have never had a problem with. Although I am partial to the Delta brand, as I think they may wonderful unique pens, I would recommend that any pen lover would have to own a Delta Dolcevita at some point. Although I have many larger Delta pens, such as my Momo, Lex, IT, etc., I have really enjoyed this slim Delta pen, as it is easy to carry in a dress shirt pocket.

Pros to the Delta Dolcevita :

• Nib and Ink flow has been super.
• Distinctive Orange pearl and Black colors
• Size. Great weight and balance
• Converter fill system works flawlessly.
• 14K Gold Nib
• Rolling ball on clip
• Above-average presentation box with velvet lining

Cons to the Delta Dolcevita :

• Price. May be a bit pricey.
• Orange Barrel (although distinctive some feel this limits the use of pen)
• Sterling Silver Band, requires polishing periodically to avoid tarnish.

My Overall grade for the Delta Dolce Vita fountain pen(grade 1-10, with ten being the highest, grading on value, ink flow, options, uniqueness, interesting, and overall experience) is an 8.5. Any pen lover/collector would love the Delta Dolcevita, although price may be a factor. Make sure you look for a Dolcevita that is on sale. Since receiving this pen a couple of weeks ago I have used it a lot. It is well made and fits nicely in the hand making for a comfortable writer. As for the writing, mine is an fine and it is smooth to write.

I have eyed this pen for a couple years and finally pulled the trigger. It was worth the wait. This medium sized pen is the perfect size for my everyday use. Its weight distribution is perfect and comfortable when posted. The distinctive orange and black design accented with sterling silver trim and 14K white gold medium nib is classic and very recognizable with all pen lovers. I love this pen! This is my second Delta, but not my last. Great Italian Brand.
