This is a MUST for anyone that owns a fountain pen. You will need this some time in the future when you clean your pen. Definitely makes it very easy to remove parts on the fountain pen or in general, any pen.

I've never bought a 'mystery box' before because I know what I like and usually don't want to experiment outside that, but the low price of this box compared to others I'd seen made it feel like a low risk. But when it arrived, I was so pleasantly surprised. My box came with a PanAm branded notebook, a pair of envelope-shaped paper clips in a nice copper color, a full-size bottle of Private Reserve ink (that will probably last me the rest of my life, it's that big) and the new Monteverde MP1 fountain pen. I've had poor experiences with Monteverde pens before so I was hesitant, but the MP1 works great for me - a smooth writer with a large ink capacity. The locked piston is a good idea in general, but not for the reason listed - the cap does not post securely due to it being a screw-on cap. The threads don't lock on to anything if you post it, so the whole "locked piston so you can post" marketing is a gimmick. Still, in all other ways it's a good pen, that I never would have bought for myself and am glad to now own. I'll mostly likey get another mystery box in the future.

The pen is nice, keeps the ink off my hands plus feels great in the hand. The ink is good, but no special properties like sheen or glitter. The paper feels good, but OMG the PanAm styling!

I got this mystery box as a midwinter treat/pick-me-up and it didn't disappoint! In the box were three FP themed stickers, some cute cat paperclips, a bottle of Private Reserve ink and a fine nib Monteverde MP1 fountain pen. This is my first Monteverde, and I'm absolutely thrilled! This pen writes smoother than any other of the 20+ pens I own, even the ones costing 3-4x as much. I literally can't explain how smoothly this pen writes - as soon as the nib hits paper the ink flows with absolutely no pressure. I'm really looking forward to using it to take minutes during an hours long hearing I have tonight. Usually my wrist is aching after such long writing sessions, but I have a feeling that'll be a problem of the past with this pen. So, if you need an excuse to treat yo' self, this is it! Either grab a mystery box or go straight for the Monteverde MP1...no matter what, you won't be disappointed!

I have cats, or should I say my cats have staff? This is just a delightful addition to my desk and it holds my pen quite well. This may be the only time a "cat" is doing something for me! Did I say delightful?...YES!

I like these tiny vials, because sometimes the neck of ink bottles are very small, and other times, I might not want to drag the whole bottle of ink with me on a trip. I can pour a small amount out or use a pipette/syringe to retrieve the ink. I don't experiment much with mixing colors, but it makes it easier with these little bottles when I do.

This little gem makes it so much easier to adjust or remove your nib without damaging the nib and the feed. Especially since some of the nibs are very tightly screwed in place.

Wow!, I really WAS surprised! I was expecting something different and then getting the Black/Gold Tibaldi Bononia! I have seven Bononias and didn’t have this one. I love the pen - it writes beautifully with some Monteverde ink. A fine line for a Medium which is what I like. The pen rest is very nicely done - great workmanship. I also love the Aston pen sleeve - that’s my prefered sleeve - it softens and molds to any pen. Haven’t tried the inks yet!

I like how by giving the choices of nib types and showing the value of the pen they essentially told us what the pen was, so there wasn't much of a mystery. But that's why I bought the box because I knew for sure what I'd get. Great value. Everything in the box is of good quality and worth every penny.

Well worth the money. My pen was a Pineider Avator UR demonstrator. That is a brand I might not have thought to consider and now it is maybe my overall favorite brand. My current "grail" pen is a Pineider. The rest of the stuff in the box was great. Looking forward to the next offering.
