TWSBI has been created from the Chinese phrase "San Wen Tong" which means "Hall of Three Cultures". This phrase brings to mind the Hall of the Three Rare Treasures created by Emperor Qianlong. The initials were reversed creating "TWS" and "Bi" was then added which literally means "writing instruments". The result is TWSBI.

Customer Reviews
Perfection. A really great nib - writes smoothly while also gripping the page just right. Doesn’t scratch and doesn’t slide all over the place. The full mechanism works like a dream. And the colors are also gorgeous of course.

I love TSWBI pens. I have a Diamond 580 (Iris) and Diamond 580AL (Ice Blue) and a number of ECOs. I have been wanting a VACR. When I saw this one I knew it was time to buy it. The Kyanite colorway is incredible. This pen is VERY sharp looking. And of course, the quality and writing experience is great. A very cool pen for the price point.

I love TWSBI pens. This isnmy first Diamond AL. I also have the Diamond 580 Iris, about 5 Ecos and two Diamond Minis. All of them are great writes. The Diamond 580 AL is a great pen for the price. Apparently the micro texturing on the aluminum grip is disliked by some. I don't notice it much and I actually like it.

I have not been a TWSBI person and this pen seemed like perhaps a TWSBI I could get into. I was right - this is a great pen. Easily to fill, writes really well and is light enough that most people could hold it all day. I may never come completely around on all TWSBI types, but I really do like the Swipe!

I really like the combination of the navy and bronze. I pair it with Diamine blue/black ink, and it writes very well as all medium TWSBI pens do!

For this price this is a really nice pen and it writes well besides. Glides across the paper very smoothly like a much more expense nib and it looks nice as well.

The TWSBI Eco is a great pen and feels good to write with. This is a brand I just tried out for the first time recently and I really like it. I have the clear pen. When the cap isn't posted, it has a nice feel, just the right length. When the cap is posted it does feel a little longer, but it doesn't hinder my writing. Looking forward to the green pen being back in stock.

So far one of my favorite brands and I try to stay away from being a brand "snob". However, TWSBI is becoming a favorite of mine. It writes well and with no scratching. Accepts ink well. I do find that some shimmer inks clog the nib, but only one has done that, so that is not on the quality of the pen or nib. This is a learning curve for me; so no stars taken away for this.

The pen is a good pen; I like that you just push down the spring to load the ink so that makes it simple to ink. It writes well, but the barrel is a pinch too large for me but this does not take away from the way it writes.

I am in-between with this pen. I am not sure if it is because I ordered the F nib, but on my Crane 100% Cotton Fiber it scratches but does not clog up with any of the cotton fiber. The ink skipped so I tried it on Clairefontaine and it did not scratch or skip the ink. So I am thinking the issue was due to being used on the cotton fiber stationery.

This is my second TWSBI 580 pen as I wanted to add some color with the rose aluminum edition. It is a very nice looking pen, and the "rose" (anodized red) looks great. I have purchased the medium which is a little broad for my use, but that is just personal preference and I am adjusting my writing - the pen performs fantastic as did my EF tip original. This, along with my Lamy 2000, are honestly my favorite, smoothest, most pleasurable writing tools, even more than my Pilots and others that cost a good bit more. I will always have a nice TWSBI 580 close by, even when I'm giving other pens a rotation of use. Highly recommend! I would add that I have a TWSBI ink well that has the setup for effortless ink refilling - makes ink refilling even easier and to me worth the $25 bucks or whatever it is if you use your TWSBI a lot.

If you do not have a TWSBI, I really do recommend you get one. I have more than one and am very pleased. This particular pen is very well built, quite solid, way more so than what you expect for the money. It is a very affordable pen but made like a pen that is very high dollar. I got this pen specifically to put Noodler's invisible ink in (yes, invisible ink). It writes like a dream and holds a lot of ink.

Great pen, very portable. Easy to fill and use and I love being able to see how much ink is left. I was worried that the ink would stain the inside but it does not. I ordered a pen with an extra fine nib, and maybe I am heavy handed because it now writes more like a fine nib (I compared the writing now to when I got it)- I have written three refills worth. None of my other fountain pens have had this issue.

A good every day writer. It’s very cylindrical and it takes a while for my hand to get used to that but it fills and cleans easily and writes very well.
