Purchased to address some gripes with the Safari, the Diamond 580 has:
* Round rather than asymmetrical section, affording more freedom to adjust the grip
* Large ink capacity rather than a converter, so it takes longer to exhaust a fill
* Screw-in nib/feed assembly rather than friction-fit. Friction-fit nibs have a tendency to loosen over time, degrading the writing experience.
These anticipated benefits were fully realized by the Diamond 580. Beyond these considerations, this is a pleasant pen to use. The EF nib is smooth and precise, the demonstrator aesthetic is attractive, and the pen requires no attention beyond rinsing and filling.

This pen appears to very high quality in materials and construction and looks sophisticated. It's also comfortable and balanced but is not meant for posting. No problem. The medium nib flows nicely but it does have a good amount of feedback; a bit too much on cheap paper. My son also has one and it feels the same so I suspect it's intentional and engineered into the nib. Also, it's definitely an Eastern medium so it writes more like a Western fine. Great bang for the buck for a piston filler!

The pen's nib is not as smooth as I had hoped. Maybe over time it will get softer but right now it is a disappointment

Very nice pen to write with. I think it looks more expensive in person than it does in pictures. I normally can get away with not cleaning a new pen, but this one definitely needed it to fix ink flow issues. Since then it's been fine. I don't write for extended periods, but it's been comfortable in my small hands. When capped the pen is very cap heavy, but uncapped it's well balanced. I originally bought one of the ALR models but exchanged it for this because I wanted something a little lighter and I really prefer the chrome finish.

Always a dependable writer! I have four of these babies now, and each worked perfectly out of the box. My sole complaint would be that the EF nib isn't as EF as some others one can obtain - but they're fine enough.

I knew nothing of this pen until I saw it recommended on YouTube by multiple reviewers. I ordered a broad nib to try it out. Since I had two other fountain pens with medium nibs, I thought I would experiment with this relatively inexpensive model. I immediately loved it and will order a second for a different color ink. It writes incredibly smoothly and feels very well-made, an exceptional value.
