About the Kaweco Brand
Kaweco is the German pen brand that makes “just toss it in your pocket” feel premium—founded in 1883, and still famous for compact classics you’ll actually carry. Start with the iconic Sport family (including Classic Sport, Skyline, Frosted, and metal upgrades like AL Sport, Brass Sport, Bronze Sport, and even Titan Sport), or go full everyday-writer with the Student, Perkeo, Dia2, and Original 060. Pen Chalet Many Kaweco pocket pens take SHORT Standard International cartridges, and if you want bottled ink, you’ll typically use the Kaweco Mini Converter (the full-size Kaweco standard converter won’t fit in the pocket-sized models).
A historic German pen brand founded in 1883 in Nuremberg. The Kaweco classic pen design, created in the 1930’s for soldiers, officers, and others, which allowed non-business professionals to carry a fine pen without a dress shirt, is essentially unchanged today. Own a piece of history and purchase a Classic Kaweco Pen today from Pen Chalet.
Kaweco pens come in an assortment of modes from fountain pens, rollerball pens, and ballpoint pens. The brand's legacy pen is the Kaweco Sport, an everyday carry pocket pen design.
Most Kaweco pens come with a 1-year warranty. Warranty information is included with each Kaweco pen. For details on a specific Kaweco pen, feel free to ask.

When was Kaweco founded?

What are the most popular Kaweco fountain pen models?
Top Kaweco favorites include Classic Sport, Skyline Sport, Frosted Sport, AL Sport, Brass Sport, Bronze Sport, Titan Sport, Student, Perkeo, Dia2, and Original 060.
What’s the difference between Classic Sport, Skyline Sport, Frosted Sport, and AL Sport?
They share the same pocket-pen idea, but differ in finishes and materials—Classic/Skyline/Frosted are resin-bodied styles, while AL Sport is a lightweight aluminum upgrade.
Do Kaweco Sport pens use Standard International ink cartridges?
Kaweco pocket pens typically accept SHORT Standard International cartridges, but not full-length Standard International cartridges.
Can I use bottled ink with a Kaweco Sport?
Yes—use a compatible compact converter (often the Kaweco Mini Converter). Some models may also work with a Kaweco squeeze-style converter depending on the pen.
Which Kaweco converter should I buy?
Pocket-sized Kaweco pens typically need a Kaweco Mini Converter (or a squeeze converter). The Kaweco Standard converter is intended for longer Kaweco models and won’t fit many Sport pens.
What nib sizes are available on Kaweco Sport pens?
Availability varies by model, but common options include Extra Fine, Fine, Medium, Broad, and Double Broad (some listings also show approximate line widths).
Can you replace or swap Kaweco nibs?
Often, yes. Kaweco sells replacement nibs for certain models, so you may be able to change widths without replacing the whole pen (confirm compatibility before buying).
Do Kaweco fountain pens come in piston-fill options?
Some Kaweco models are offered in piston-fill versions (availability depends on the specific collection and current stock).

Customer Reviews

I love the look of the Perkeo and the cartridges in Ruby Red from Kaweco match well. I find that when not in use it does tend to get ink spots in the cap and nib if stored on its side. I just keep mine straight up in a pen holder to prevent this from happening. Overall, still a 4/5.

This is a beautiful pen. In fact, this is the second one of these pens I purchased - the nib is like writing with butter. To be honest, this pen writes better than some of my more expensive pens, and the coloring is beautiful.

I just love the student. A reliable writer with good ink flow, and I like the 60s and 70s color combos. A great daily carry!

This pen is my trusty sidekick on all my global adventures. It’s super durable and reliable, so I can always count on it to stay in one piece. Plus, it’s my everyday carry pen, so I never leave it behind. It’s been with me through thick and thin, and I know I can always count on it to get the job done.

Works well and is made well, a good converter over all. I like the different color options especially.

This is a pen I'd been eyeing for ages. It writes well, with good ink flow. The converter it came with though, strangely didn't fit well- luckily I had a standard Kaweco converter that fit snugly and perfectly. I don't really know what was up with the included converter. It's very lightweight, I almost wish it was slightly heavier to settle in my hand better. Also, the flat sides don't line up if you post the cap on the back - it's a small, dumb thing, but it makes the pen's quality seem lower. So, in general, a good pen, espeically if you're looking for a lightweight pen, but not a must-buy.

Wow, this pen is way better than I expected for the money. While the barrel is cheap plastic, the actual nib is the smoothest and best flowing of any of my pens, regardless of cost. Kaweco wasn't on my radar before this, but I'll be choosing one of their more expensive pens next.

For a $60 fountain pen, the Kaweko with an extra fine nib is surprisingly great. A pleasure to write with using Edelstein ink cartridge. It's a great daily worker that saves my more expensive pens for lighter or more formal use. The only thing better is to spend 3x the money for a gold nib pen (several great brands).

Fantastic little device. I think I have bought several for when my cartridges run out on my latest ink experiment.

An excellent writing tool. Sturdy, compact, powerful little things. Price compared to quality cannot be matched by any others in the pocket and in the field. Will not be surprised to find that they sometime discover that Steinbeck carried one in his pocket every day (well, if they manufactured by then).

Carries and performs well. It is in daily rotating lineup. A workhorse. I own 4 Kawecos. They are a delight everywhere I take them. I see a bronze one in my near future

This is a weighty pen with a brushed-satin finish. Like the brass Kaweco Sport, it takes on a patina with use. And I am looking forward to its pending change in color as I use it and carry it on my daily rounds.

I love this pen. It is my go-to pen. I did find the nib to be a little scratchy but polished it with stones to 10,000 grit. Now it is smooth as silk. I love it.
