About the Kaweco Classic Sport

Following the original 1935 design, the Kaweco Classic sport fountain pen has been successful without much change. This fountain pen comes with a 23k gold plated stainless steel nib. Use the included ink cartridge or add Kaweco's ingenuous squeeze converter.

The Kaweco classic sport fountain pen is compact and easy to carry in a purse or pocket. The length of the pen is small with the cap on but with the cap posted it extends the pen making the pen easy to use.

An optional clip can be purchased for the pen in either chrome or gold color. We recommend the gold color clip to match the color of the nib on the Kaweco Classic Sport fountain pen.

Available Nib Sizes:

I love this pen. My 2nd since I lost the first. Recommend buying a clip if you buy this pen.

This is a wonderful little fountain pen, a true pocket pen. You can shove this handy little gem into a pair of jeans, drop it into the pocket of your safari jacket, and probably, even sneak it into prison after you've had a little too much fun the night before.
Kaweco has been making pens since 1883, and their quality is quite excellent. This model originates from 1935, so any little bugs have all been worked out. And best of all, should you have any difficulty, the customer service and the personal care from Pen Chalet is second to none.
I love my Kaweco Sport, and I think you will too.

I love this pen! It now goes everywhere I go. Small enough to carry in any pocket, yet when posted is just the right size. It writes very well, first time, every time. Great price too.

Excellent packaging, threads on the cap are substantial for the price, the nib is very smooth and moist for the price, the pen is compact and easy to carry. Just a great grab and go pen for not a lot of money!

A big surprise! This pen has become my favorite and have bought 2 more as gifts. The soft and effortless flow of the pen makes this a winner. And price? Can't go wrong.

Wow, is this small! I knew it would be, but I was still surprised when I opened the box (when closed, it's the same length as my Ipod Touch 4th gen, if that can give you an idea). I was looking for a good pocket pen, something I could carry with me everywhere, so the size is perfect. The body is molded plastic, and feels like plastic, which is kinda normal for this price-range. It's pretty light, but comfortable to hold. The cap screws on nicely, so it won't open in your pocket. It posts securely with just a little push, and that makes the pen a more comfortable length for writing for longer period of time. I have the green model with gold trim, and it looks pretty good and classic. I've added a clip to mine (sold separately), and the metallic clip definitely makes it "butt-heavy" when the cap is posted, but not in an unusable way (the body is just so light that adding anything to it obviously makes a difference).

The fine nib is really smooth (for a fine nib), and doesn't have much flex (it wasn't supposed to have flex anyway, but some nibs still do), but it seems to have a sweetspot, meaning the pen kinda skips if it's turned ever so slightly. It's not something I've noticed on other pens (LAMY, Sheaffer, etc.), but this could also be caused by the small size of the pen, and me still needing to adjust to it. The nib seems to be just pressure-fit into its collar, so it can be taken off and switched pretty easily, if that's something that interests you. It came with a blue Kaweco cartridge, which is a nice shade of blue, but nothing remarkable. Because of the size, the pen can only use standard-size cartridges, or a converter, which limits the ink capacity. I bought the recommended squeeze converter when I bought my pen, and still have to try it, but I wouldn't really recommend buying one (you can refill cartridges with a syringe instead, or just use new cartridges, or go the eyedropper way). Since the body is just a hollow plastic piece, this pen looks like it can easily be turned into an eyedropper pen with a little silicon grease on the inner threads, and that would give a way bigger ink capacity, but also comes with the normal risks of eyedropper pens (i.e blobs of ink, leaks if not done correctly, etc.). There are plenty of good videos over the internet showing how to do that change.

tl;dr: This is a good plastic pen at a very good price for the quality. I'd would recommend it to people looking for a pen they can easily carry with them, along with some ink cartridges for an easy-to-use combo.

My order arrived in a timely fashion and after flushing the pen and letting it dry, I put in a cartridge of Arabian Rose. Within just a couple strokes, it began to write and has laid down a consistent line since. Great quality for a fair price.

The Kaweco Classic Sport is a great little pen for keeping in your pocket or purse. The cap can screw on the end to make a slightly longer pen, but it fits my relatively small hands. The barrel is a bit plasticky, but still sturdy. The nib is a little different than most pens I've had--you have to place it on paper at a slightly shallower angle (if that makes sense). Overall, a great deal for the price, and very portable.

Please direct me, I can't find it on your site. Thanks

https://www.penchalet.com/pen_accessories/fountain_pen_converters/kaweco_mini_converter.html
Q:
Does Kaweco make a converter if not is there a converter small enough to be used. I like the color of my bottled inks.
Asked on May 4 2015 by Steven
A:
The Kaweco squeeze converter will fit the Kaweco Classic Sport fountain pen.
Q:
What size cartridges does it take?
Asked on Mar 27 2015 by Lory
A:
The Kaweco Classic fountain pen takes a standard universal ink cartridge.
Q:
What is the material of the body of the pen?
Asked on Sep 11 2014 by Julia
A:
The Kaweco Classic Sport fountain pen cap and body is made from injection molded ABS/macrolon plastic.
Q:
I put an ink cartridge on my Kaweco pen but I cannot get the pen to screw back together. The ink cartridge will not go into the barrel.
Asked on Mar 7 2014 by Mary
A:
The Kaweco Classic Sport fountain pen comes with one ink cartridge included and it is shipped inside the barrel of the pen but not attached to the nib. Occasionally this ink cartridge gets stuck inside the barrel and blocks the insertion of another cartridge. With the nib section removed, gently tap the barrel to dislodge the ink cartridge.
Q:
Does it comes in a case? I wish to give it as a gift.
Asked on Nov 28 2013 by reggie
A:
It comes in a black cardboard box with the Kaweco logo printed on it in gold. Kaweco Gift Box

Kaweco Classic Sport Video

Video Script

This is the Kaweco Classic Sport Fountain Pen. Pictured is the white and the black version, but it’s also available in other colors including blue, bordeaux, and a clear demonstrator.

The pen is quite compact with the cap on it. It only measures about 4 inches. The cap can be unscrewed and posted onto the pen giving the pen a little bit more length, about 5 ¼ inches. Etched on the pen on the cap is the Kaweco Sport logo and on the top of the cap is the Kaweco logo. The nib is a stainless steel nib and etched on it is the Kaweco logo as well as some other etchings.

This is a cartridge converter pen. It comes included with one cartridge and that cartridge is inside the barrel of the pen, but not inserted into the pen. You will have to do that when you get the pen, so you unscrew the nib section from the barrel and then you can pull that cartridge out and insert into the nib section and then once that inserted you can screw that back into the barrel of the pen. We also have available a converter. It’s a squeeze converter that’s unique to Kaweco you can purchase along with the pen, if you would rather use that with your own inks.

This is a great pen. Kaweco is a great company, they have been around since this pen was made in 1935. Get yours today at PenChalet.com
