First thing's first, I owe a shout out to the customer service group here at Pen Chalet, I'm quite picky about certain pens and reached out to Ron asking if he could get the Rose Bronze Gold hardware palladium Dreamtouch nib model of this pen and he really went to bat for me! Pen Chalet's customer service is second to none and no, I'm not being paid to type this.
Pros: I bought the Visconti Michelangelo mentioned above, it's a magnificent work of art, an extremely smooth writer. If I enjoy it so much, why did I choose a 3 for Product Quality and Functionality you say? Well, the nib needed repairing (See Cons and Conclusion for more details) but I was able to quickly repair it and did the rest of the six page writing test with no issues. I wanted a Dreamtouch nib in Fine, but there weren't any in stock so I went with the medium during the Visconti sale and enjoy working with all types of nibs to make them perform like I feel a fountain pen should.
Cons: The pen stopped writing 5 minutes after I inked it while starting the six page writing assessment. The tines weren't aligned correctly, one tine had a small raised/warped area near the breather hole and was causing air to interrupt capillary action. Pen manufacturers probably assemble multiple hundreds if not thousands of pens per day, and overall this pen and manufacturer will have a very good track record despite the one off issues like I seem to find.
Conclusion: I own nearly 20 fountain pens and enjoy writing with all of them; after after using the Visconti for more than a week, I've concluded it's my favorite pen so far, above my Pelikan M400 in smoothness and above the MontBlanc 90th Anniversary Rose Gold pen in elegance. This pen is smoother and wetter than all of other pens that I own. Until I got this Visconti, I didn't think I'd find smoother writers than my Lamy 2000 Fine and my Parker Urban Medium Pens.
