About the Platinum Modern Maki-e
The Platinum Modern Maki-e fountain pens are made with a silk screen printing process on a resin body and then hand finished with Maki-e craftsman. Each fountain pen comes with an 18k gold nib as well as one ink cartridge. The Platinum 500 ink converter is NOT included for bottled ink and must be purchased separately.
The Platinum Modern Maki-e Fountain Pen is a cartridge converter style fountain pen and includes a platinum ink cartridge.
The pen's cap and barrel are resin with traditional Maki-e designs screen-printed with maki-e accents added by hand by a maki-e artist. The pens are black with gold trim, and the pens have a compression cap that is postable. The pen's black grip section matches the rest of the pen.

The art on the pen is beautiful and has great texture. I hesitate to post the cap because it partially obscures/rubs against the art. It's a very lightweight pen, and feels fragile to me. The snap cap is really satisfying, and the nib is soft and flexible, which is nice because not a lot of pressure is needed when writing to lay down the ink.

The modern maki-e is a beautiful pen with a very smooth 18k nib. It is very balanced and a pleasure to write with. I filled it with Robert Oster Australian Shiraz (Syrah) and the color of the ink compliments the details of the Phoenix and it writes consistently every time. The pen is definitely a wet writer and a perfect EDC.

Although I do have more expensive pens, this pen is my sine qua non writer. The one I would want on the desert isle. Gorgeous art. Fabulous 18k nib. I use it for important letters. The flexibility of the nib is something, with the requisite budget, I'd like to test against vintage flex nibs, it is that splendid!

While this pen writes well, I am not fond of holding and using it. It is very lightweight and the grip section is slippery. It is feminine and elegant when closed but when it is posted a lot of the design gets covered.
