About the Platinum Izumo Sumiko Taka Maki-e
The Platinum Izumo Sumiko Taka Maki-e fountain pens have a jet black matte body with sumikoage taka maki-e technique using charcoal powder. This technique builds up layers on the body of the pen to create a 3-dimensional design. As the pen wears through use, the design gains a shine. The Platinum Izumo Sumiko Taka Maki-e embodies refined Japanese traditional craftwork.
The clip on the pen has been made of Beryllium copper on matte ruthenium finish. Created with a cartridge converter fill system and then fitted with an 18K gold nib with ruthenium finish. Each Platinum Izumo Sumiko Taka Maki-e fountain pen comes with with a Kimono wrap carrying case for the pen. Presented in a black paulownia wood box and an exclusive black Platinum converter for the pen.

I love the craftsmanship and uniqueness of this pen. It has a very hand-crafted feel to it and the sense that personal human effort went into its creation. The design in relief on the barrel gives it an authentic feel. The heft of the pen is perfect--really substantial which I like. The nib is tuned well and I love the way it writes. Overall, I can't be more pleased with this selection.
