The Final Release - Unkai:
Unkai captures the breathtaking beauty of a sea of clouds surrounding Mt. Fuji during the quiet early morning hours. Serving as the concluding chapter of the Fuji Unkei series, “Unkai” features an incredible combination of transparent resin, intricate lens-cut faceting, engraved detailing, and Platinum’s first-ever bicolor #3776 design aesthetic introduced within the Fuji Unkei collection. As light moves across the barrel, the pen recreates the shimmering layers of clouds drifting around Mt. Fuji at sunrise, creating a truly dynamic visual effect in hand. The cap and grip colors were specifically selected to evoke Mt. Fuji’s mountainside illuminated by the rising autumn and winter sun, while the barrel’s layered carvings and transparent construction reflect the flowing depth and movement of the cloud formations themselves.To commemorate the release, each pen also includes a special 20ml bottle of “Fuji-no-Ebizome” ink, inspired by the grape-red twilight hues that appear across Mt. Fuji as daylight fades into evening. Depending on lighting and paper, the ink reveals subtle shifts between reddish-purple and green undertones, making it a perfect companion to the pen itself.


The 2024 Kasumi Release: *SOLD OUT*
The second release in the series, Kasumi, takes on the challenge of new decoration. Kasumi, meaning haze or mist, is inspired by the majestic form of Mt. Fuji glimpsed through the mist at dawn (as well as the surrounding mountains and the activities of the people) as depicted in "View at Dawn from Isawa in Kai Province" from the ukiyo-e series thirty-six views of Mt. The 2023 Uroko-Gumo Release: **SOLD OUT**
To celebrate the release of Platinum Pen's flagship model, the #3776 CENTURY, a series of fountain pens called “Fuji Five Lakes” was created from 2011 to 2016, followed by the “Fuji Shunkei” series from 2017 to 2021, which showcased the beautiful seasonal scenes of Mt. Fuji on the body of the pens using an advanced cutting technique. In 2023, a new series was introduced: Fuji Unkei. The debut pen in the Fuji Unkei series was the “Uroko-Gumo" which featured a new decorative cutting technique with irregular patterns contrasting with regular patterns to showcase the cirrocumulus clouds (“Uroko-Gumo” in Japanese). The pen exhibited a stunning complex play of light and reflection on the pen body, creating a natural, beautiful aesthetic. The shadows cast by light passing through the body of the pen are reminiscent of cirrocumulus clouds and are sure to captivate. The first bi-color design in the #3776 CENTURY series, Uroko-Gumo featured a bi-colored design with different colors for the cap and body. The stylish dark blue-grey cap represents the surface of Mt. Fuji, colored by seasons and time, while the contrasting clear body features an intricately carved design.
