About the Pineider Alchemist 14kt Nib
The Pineider Alchemist 14kt Nib fountain pen is handcrafted in Italy. The luxury piston filler is made of Pineider's exciting new Zeolite material.
Zeolites are minerals formed millions of years ago when glowing lava met seawater. This same alchemical transformation of magma occurs with every volcanic eruption, like the Kilawea volcano in Hawaii or the Italian Stromboli. The Pineider Alchemist fountain pen's Zeolite material brings a unique tactile feeling and impact resistance to the pen industry - both of which are key elements of a great fine writing instrument.
Pineider developed the Alchemist pen's material using over 40% pure, low pressure printed Zeolite to create a velvety surface, and remarkable impact resistance while preserving the anionic and cationic properties of the volcanic material. Zeolite, a natural hydrophilia, offers just the right porosity and creates an excellent grip for a top notch writing experience.
Included with the Pineider Alchemist fountain pen is a magnetic piston knob extension (seen in product photo). Some writers may prefer to use the extension when operating the piston mechanism. The pen's aesthetic called for a very small piston knob, so the designers provided a separate "extension" for those who find it easier to hold when filling the pen's piston filling mechanism with ink.

The Alchemist is a excellent pen-materials are high quality, the flex nib is a joy to write with, and its design is great as well. The magnetic closure is something I especially like, never having to worry about wear of threads. The one reservation I have is the design of the barrel near the nib. A slight taper would have made the pen more comfortable to hold. It feels a bit odd, which is why I rate it as above average for value rather than excellent. It's an expensive pen for the type, so I expect close to perfection for ergonomics.
