The Pelikan Souveran M800 Grand Place fountain pen is a special edition pen with only a limited number of pens made. The pen series embodies the rich culture of of the world famous market and historical landmark, the Brussels' Grand Place.
The cap and barrel are both made from beautiful hand turned resins and then polished to a high sheen finish. The deep dark brown swirled with tan and a touch of blue make this pen truly stunning. To finish the pen off it comes with a gorgeous two tone 18 carat gold nib. Choose from extra fine, fine, medium or broad nib sizes.

The Pelikan logo here on the bottom corner embossed and the stitching along both edges. This elastic comes off and the case opens up. And of course, we have the Pelikan M800 Grand Place Fountain Pen. I really like the look of the resin on this pen. It has a beautiful swirling glossy finish with a slight transparency to it. You can see just barely inside the pen. Very subtle look.
Gold accents throughout the pen. It also has a black cap at the bottom of the barrel. On the top of the cap of the pen is the Pelikan logo in a gold color, and the traditional Pelikan bill or beak shape clip, that glossy gold finish. The bottom of the cap it has two gold bands, a thicker and a thinner band with a Pelikan Souveran Germany engraved on the bigger of the two rings.
You can see that resin has brown and white and a little blue in the barrel and the cap of the pen. This pen will be unique because that resin is going to be slightly different on every pen. The bottom of the barrel has two gold colored bands and then of course that black end that we talked about. That knob is used to actually the piston on the pen. You see piston converter style pen.
Cap on the pen is threaded and on screws, you can post it on the pen. You can kind of see the size of the pen. You can use this pen with or without a post. I think it's big enough that you can probably use it without a post if you'd like to. Black resin section on the pen with a glossy finish. It comes with the Pelikan 18 carat golden two toned nib. You can see the Pelikan logo in gold on the tip of the nib in gold with the rhodium finish on the rest of the nib. You can see the feed there on the back side of the pen.
To fill the pen, it's a piston style pen so you would actuate the piston with the knob here on the end to control the piston to fill the ink on the pen. The word "Grand" from its name is quite fitting for this lovely pen. I always have high expectations of Pelikan and once again I am not disappointed. Ron at Pen Chalet was extremely helpful when I was choosing a special Pelikan pen for an important birthday. He was very patient and facilitated the choice of the Grand Place. Absolutely gorgeous pen, much more beautiful in real life than the pictures. I missed getting a Tortoise Shell M800 when they were available so when the Grand Place came out I just had to have one. Typical Pelikan nib, writes smooth as silk right out of the box and will just get better and better with use. The mix of colors is just eye watering, one of the richest finishes I've ever seen on a fountain pen. Loaded with the 2015 Edelstein "Ink of The Year" Amethyst this truly makes a statement. Ron, at Pen Chalet provides not only fantastic prices, but some of the best customer service you can imagine.
