About the Lamy 2000
The Lamy 2000 fountain pen is a modern classic made from a combination of fiberglass and stainless steel with a brush finish.
The Lamy 2000 fountain pen has a piston filling system for Lamy T 51 and T 52 ink. Each Lamy 2000 fountain pen comes with a 14k gold nib that is platinum plated and hand polished.
While this pen boasts high-quality materials and craftsmanship, it's important to note that the nib is not retractable. Unlike click or twist-open style pens, the Lamy 2000's nib remains exposed. This design choice complements its sleek, minimalist aesthetic and ensures a seamless writing experience.
Whether you're an avid pen collector or someone who appreciates the finer things in life, the Lamy 2000 offers a blend of functionality and elegance that stands out.
The Lamy 2000 fountain pen has an additional oblique double broad nib option not listed on the website, but available by special order in both colors. If you would like more information about ordering a Lamy 2000 fountain pen with an oblique double broad, please reach out to customer service by email ([email protected]) or phone (877.509.0378 ).
Water is generally sufficient for routine cleanups, removing most ink residues effectively. However, if the ink has dried up or your pen hasn't been used for a while, consider using a specialized cleaning solution like Pen Chalet Pen Flush. This can help dissolve stubborn ink deposits and keep your writing instrument in top shape.

Guaranteed Quality
Each Lamy 2000 Fountain Pens we sell is guaranteed to be genuine, authentic and will arrive brand new & unused!
This is the Lamy 2000 fountain pen. It has a dull satin finish to it. Here we have a black cap and barrel with a dull silver colored clip. On the top of the cap there is a little bit of a shiny glossy cap and at the bottom other barrel we just have a small chrome circle there in the middle the bottom. The cap is a compression fit. You can post the cap if you would like to. This pen is made from Makrolon which is a polycarbonate material. There is also an all metal version of the Lamy 2000 pen. It is pretty light way for being a metal pen. So you can use it with or without a cap posted.
Now there are a few windows or open areas where you can see the inside the pen to see the ink. Those go around the pen and there is three openings where you can see the ink or the interior. It then has a chrome colored grip section on the barrel. It is once again that dull stain finish and it as a nice shiny chrome nib.
Now this is a piston style fountain pen. It is a highly precision pen, so much that you can hardly see the seam between the end of the barrel and the littel knob you twist to fill the pen. So you unscrew that end of the pen in a counter-clockwise direction to draw ink into the pen as you dip the pen into your bottled ink. Then simply screw that back in down once you've done. Like I said it's really hard to see that seam it is a such a tight precision seam.

Maintenance & Care
Cleaning a fountain pen ensures it continues to perform well and lasts for years. The method you use to clean your pen largely depends on its filling system, but the core steps are generally the same.- Basic Flushing:
- Prepare: Remove the ink cartridge or converter.
- Rinse: Flush the nib and feed section with cool, distilled water until the water runs clear.
- Dry: Allow the parts to air dry completely before reassembling.
- Using Pen Flush:
- Prepare: If the ink is stubborn and doesn't come out with water alone, use a pen flush solution.
- Soak: Submerge the nib and feed in the pen flush for a few minutes.
- Rinse and Repeat: Rinse thoroughly with water afterwards to remove any residual flush solution.
- Piston Pens:
- Operate the piston mechanism to draw water in and expel it several times.
- Continue until the water is clear.
- Wipe the exterior and let the internal parts dry completely.

What should I do if my fountain pen won’t write?
If your fountain pen isn't writing, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue.- Check the Ink Supply First, ensure that your pen has sufficient ink. Sometimes, the problem is as simple as an empty cartridge or converter. Verify that the ink cartridge or converter is correctly seated in the pen.
- Clean the Pen New fountain pens can have residual machining oil or other residues that may block ink flow. Give your pen a thorough cleaning. You can use a specialized pen flush or mix a drop of dish soap in some water for this purpose. Flush the nib and feed area well to remove any blockages.
- Prime the Feed If the pen still doesn’t write, try priming the feed. You can do this by dipping the nib and feed into ink or by gently forcing ink from the converter down into the feed. This ensures that ink reaches the nib and can start flowing.
- Seek Help If Needed If your pen still won't write after these steps, don't hesitate to reach out for expert assistance. Contact the customer support team for further help and troubleshooting tips.
What should I do if I see residual blue ink in my new LAMY 2000 Fountain Pen?
This is a common question with new Lamy 2000 fountain pens. If you notice some blue ink in your new Lamy 2000 Fountain Pen, don't worry—this is completely normal. During the final manufacturing stage, Lamy conducts thorough tests on each pen to ensure top-notch quality and performance. Here's what you should do:
- Understand it's expected: The presence of residual blue ink indicates the pen has been quality-checked.
- No action needed: You don't need to clean it immediately; the pen is ready for use.
- Reassurance: This ink won't affect your first fill or writing experience.

This is the Lamy 2000 fountain pen. It comes in a black cardboard box we have the Lamy logo with a silver on top. The lid is a compression fit around that logo. It is kind of a unique design. The pen is just what I expected - a smooth writer, lays down a generous amount of ink (I have B nib). It is the well-known design - a nice expression of 1960's elegance. My 2000 came nicely boxed with factory authentication. (I appreciate this since I also own a 2000 in fine from another seller that did not come this way.) My only complaint is with the shipping - for reasons that can't be explained my pen took nearly 2 weeks to arrive - even though I paid the extra fees for expedited handling and priority mail. In my view the blame for this lies entirely with the USPS since Pen Chalet did everything they could to get the purchase to me in a timely manner. It is a fine pen and I am happy to have it in my rotation.

Wow. I was very nervous about buying this pen. You heard stories about the "sweet spot" on this pen. Also I write left handed and was concerned if that was going to impact it. I received my pen today and I have to say it is one of the best writing pens I own. It is truly a pleasure to write with. This is my new favorite pen. Also want to thank Pen Chalet customer service. I called and needed to switch the NIB size. They were able to do that before my order went out. I was so excited to get this. And now I'm even more excited to write with it. This was a great purchase from a great company. Way to go Pen Chalet!

This pen is a classic. It is light, just the right size for all day use. It is not flashy, and very suitable for work. Piston fill, with a very smooth piston. The nib is smooth on mine. A word of warning. The nib writes wider than you would expect. I bought the EF nib, and it writes as wide as many of my other pens with a medium nib.

I had an issue with the nib and penchalet customer service sent me a nib replacement efficiently to solve my issue. I am a very happy customer with penchalet. Also I love the Lamy 2000 EF fountain pen very much. It is my most favorite one.

The Lamy 2000 is every bit as wonderful as everyone says. It is an engineering marvel too. The 2000 is one of those pens that disappears in your hand and eliminates all barriers between you and the words on the page. The easy, complete, and tool-less disassembly means that I have no reservations about loading an ink that may require a bit more maintenance and cleaning like Jacques Herbin Bleu Océan. It is the only pen I have multiple iterations of in different nib sizes. I don't normally buy black pens (they're so difficult to see in a bag or drawer), but I made an exception for the Lamy 2000, more than once.
