This is the Kaweco AL Sport Fountain Pen. AL stands for aluminum because the body of the pen is made from aluminum which makes it a heavy pen and a nice durable material. It comes in four different colors. Pictured here we have the black as well as the raw. It also comes in a silver and a blue.On the cap is engraved Kaweco AL sport Germany. The cap is quite large which makes it compact and small. You can unscrew the cap and post it as we have pictured here. The nib is a stainless steel nib and etched on the nib is the Kaweco logo as well as some other etchings. On the end of the cap is the Kaweco logo.
This pen comes with one cartridge included. It is inside of the body of the pen when it arrives but it's not actually inserted into the pen. To change that cartridge you can unscrew the top portion of the pen from the body and the cartridge is inside just floating. You can also add a converter if you would like to. We have a squeeze converter that is kind of unique to Kaweco that you can purchase as well.
This particular pen comes in a box which is just a steel box. It kinds of reminds me of an old fashioned mint box with a hinge top to it. Inside the box you can insert the pen. You can either put one pen like this or you can actually use it for two different pens in the same box.

Some say that Kaweco nibs aren't consistent – that you can get a bad one. I have 5 plastic Sports, an Art Sport in Mineral White, and now two AL Sports. All have great, reliable nibs and are a joy to use. The newest, an AL Sport in Silver, is beautiful, with a nice sheen, rather than a shine. It has a nice texture that is not slippery, making it very comfortable and secure as I write. The "Dark Red" one is more a medium in color. I've yet to be disappointed in a Kaweco Sport. And enjoy them all. I suspect that the aluminum ones will prove to be more durable. The finish on the AL Sports is anodized, which is much harder than raw aluminum and will not oxidize. With the exception of the Raw aluminum Sport, the others can be expected to maintain their good looks for years.

Love this pen. I got a broad and the nib is nice. Kaweco nibs are usually finer than other European nibs. More like the Japanese nibs. So my broad feels closer in size to my other mediums. So as I like medium nibs, I think I made the right choice. The pen is light and beautiful ?? I do love my Brass. That’s my go to pen. So this rose gold pen is here to add to my growing kaweco collection.

I am normally not a fan of small pens but the Al-sport and Brass - sport are the exceptions. Good weight. Easy to post which makes them long enough for me to write with. I was not a fan of the standard plastic pens but these metal ones are a pleasant surprise. The also write very well. Also very collectible.

I recently purchased the AL Sport in "raw" finish with a medium nib. It is a lovely pen right out of the tin! The nib is smooth and reliable and the ink flows nicely - not too wet, not too dry. This is the first aluminum sport I have owned and I am very pleased. The finish of the "raw" version is smooth and shiny. I recognize that it will acquire scratches and patina over time and to me, that will just add character to an already interesting pen. The weight is quite light - hard to tell which one I'm holding when I compare it to my regular KAWECO sport (which is plastic). Overall, a terrific pen and I highly recommend. ALSO: Ordering through Pen Chalet was a really good experience. When I realized I had made a mistake on my order just after I completed the purchase, I reached out to customer service via email and they fixed it for me immediately.

My good friends at Pen Chalet have encouraged me to purchase of these pens for nearly three years. I finally caved in and bought one. What took me so long? Well I'm not a big fan of pocket-sized pens. I like this pen. Its well crafted and it writes very well. It's more a wet writer which is my preference. I'm usually a broad nib fan, but just for fun I tried a fine while at the store and it writes better than any fine I've ever used. I stuck with my normal and purchased a broad nib. Its been a fine pen and is kind of fun to pull out of you pocket to sign a receipt. I've never been a fan of using the community pen at a business, and this is proving to be quite fun. I'll tip my hat to Shay in the shipping department and say this was a good choice and I appreciate her three years of encouragement to purchase one of these!
