About Orange Carbon Conklin Word Gauge
The Conklin Word Gauge fountain pen is a recreation of the 1930's edition of the pen. The Conklin Word Gauge fountain pen has a large transparent window with a gauge etched with the approximate number of words the remaining ink will write.
Each Conklin Word Gauge fountain pen is made from resin and comes with a German-made stainless steel nib. The pen uses a built in piston style filling system.

On the side of the pen is also engraved Conklin Word Gauge, made in Italy with the number of the pen. Small actuator here at the bottom of the barrel of the pen that allows you to control the piston to fill the reservoir of ink. Chrome colored accents throughout the pen. There's a small chrome band separating the ink window with the rest of the barrel of the pen. The bottom of the cap of the pen has a larger chrome colored band, just a plain band, no engravings or etchings on that, and then we have the traditional Conklin style clip. Opens nice and wide pretty easily. Just a rounded end to the pen. You can see the resin on the pen, it has a pearlised look to it, not consistent the same color and it has a slight transparency, too. Not sure if you can see that on the video or not, but it actually can view through and see the interior of the pen.
The cap unscrews, you can post that on the pen. It's a decent size pen. You can use the pen with or without that posted, whichever you'd prefer. Good mid-size pen. The grip section is once again that same red pearl resin. You can see the threads here for the cap. Then it has two tone nib, Conklin Toledo, Ohio is engraved on it, and the feed there on the back side of the pen.

Conklin Word Gauge Video Script
This is the Conklin Word Gauge Fountain Pen. This pen comes in a blue faux leather box. We have the Conklin logo embossed in gold on the top of the box lid. It also has some other lines etched around the exterior of the box and on the sides as well. It has these kind of chamfered corners on the box. The box is a hinged top, it lifts open. The interior of the box is a nice, soft tan. Interior, once again on the underside of the lid is a Conklin logo in gold. Included with the Conklin Word Gauge is information about the pen, warranty, use and care guide, that kind of stuff, and then of course we have the Conklin Word Gauge Fountain Pen. The reason they call it the Word Gauge Fountain pen is because of the numbers that are engraved on the side of the viewing port for the piston, where you can see the ink levels and they have the approximate number of words left with the amount of ink. I don't know how accurate that is, but that's none the less what they have.On the side of the pen is also engraved Conklin Word Gauge, made in Italy with the number of the pen. Started writing with fountain pens in Junior High School, the 1960's. My father introduced me to them. I don't own many, as I take care of them. The Conklin's are "old school" clean, honest and good quality. Nothing fancy, just a very good writing tool. Pleased I found Pen Chalet and your service has been great.

This pen is turning out to be one of my favorite everyday writing tools. I have the turquoise body with a medium nib and i LOVE LOVE LOVE it. It writes smoothly across all mediums and the color is beautiful and fun. And it is actually nice to see the ink gauge so there are no surprise ink endings. The grip is large enough for an easily handled pen. Was a great buy on Pen Chalet's site. This one is a keeper.

Purchased the Turquoise version and the pictures do not do the pen justice. The fine nib writes smoothly. Conklin now uses JoWo nibs and I haven't had an writing issues with the newer pens. The piston works well and the ink window is a nice touch.
About the only negative is I wish the cap posted more securely on the back of the barrel. Just another quarter inch would have made a huge difference.
I like the pen so much I'm seriously considering one of the limited edition Ebonite versions.

I purchased the blue word gauge Conklin pen and am quite pleased with it. Very nice, smooth-writing pen and I do like the see-through section with the lines for how many words are left based on the ink level. I don't know if that part is accurate in any way, but it is cool and being able to monitor the ink level is helpful. Very happy with my purchase.
