Conklin Word Gauge Flames of the Abyss Fountain Pens

Dark, dramatic, and built around one of Conklin’s most distinctive vintage-inspired designs, the Conklin Word Gauge Flames of the Abyss Fountain Pen combines exclusive Jonathon Brooks resin with the functional character of the classic Word Gauge model.

The Flames of the Abyss resin was created exclusively for Conklin by Jonathon Brooks, blending deep red, black, and warm amber-gold tones in flowing, flame-like patterns. Natural variation in the resin means each pen has its own individual balance of color, shimmer, and movement, giving every piece a unique appearance. At the center of the design is the Word Gauge’s signature integrated ink window, engraved with numerical gradations that estimate how many words remain in the reservoir. It’s a clever nod to Conklin’s writing heritage while also giving the pen a distinctive visual identity.

The pen uses a piston-filling system, allowing it to fill directly from bottled fountain pen ink while providing generous ink capacity for longer writing sessions. A clear section around the Word Gauge markings makes it easy to monitor ink levels as you write.

Each Flames of the Abyss fountain pen is fitted with a #6 stainless steel nib, available in multiple nib sizes to suit different writing preferences.

Limited to just 88 pieces, the Conklin Word Gauge Flames of the Abyss Fountain Pen brings together exclusive resin, vintage-inspired engineering, and a dramatic color palette in a highly collectible release built for writers who like their pens with a little more fire.
