About the Conklin All American

The Conklin All American fountain pen was created during the 1930s, at the dawn of the Great Depression at an affordable price. The All American came in a variety of sizes, finishes and filling mechanisms. It was and still is a quality writing instrument at an affordable price.

The Conklin All American fountain pen comes with a cartridge/converter fill mechanism and a highly polished gold trim. The All American is large but not uncomfortable in the hand. The cap and barrel are tapered for perfect balance.

The Conklin All American fountain pen comes in finishes that pay homage the classic designs of the vintage Conklin All AMerican. The Yellowstone finish with its yellow, brown and white resin, the bright sunburst orange and the classic tortoiseshell.

The Conklin All American fountain pen is great for those who want a larger pen but want to stay true to the classic design of the original Conklin pens.

I just love this Conklin All American Yellowstone fountain pen! I have small hands, but this big pen is really comfortable to write with and I mean for long periods, too. The nib is great. Now - the Yellowstone resin - lava lampish and the cool cadmium yellow and the white have some sheen. The solid brown color balances the shimmer in the yellow and white. I love this pen!

The Old Glory is just a big giant chunk of 'Merica. Beautiful material. And regardless of the immense size, this pen is very well balanced and does not weigh you down in the middle of a long writing session. The Section is well tapered and very comfortable. Overall, A big beautiful pen that is sure to grab everyone's attention!

I wasn't a fan of cigar shaped pens. I like skinny pens because I have small hands. I was surprised by how comfortable this pen was. I have the fine and medium nib sizes and love them. Smooth writers. I like the colors too. I like that this website was the cheapest for this pen hence the reason I got 3.

Brownstone 1.1 Stub / EF model. Test on Rhodia R, Tomoe River 56g and Midori notebook. Inked with Sailor Souten (Ef), Pelikan Onyx (Su).
Well, let's say that this pen hit me in the eye. From there, difficult to be objective but I will try to be a little anyway. The material is splendid and plays with the different intensities of light. My eyes do not get tired. The clip is out of the ordinary and contributes to the robust appearance without giving the impression of being faced with a mastondon. The black nib marries perfectly. I really like the style of this pen. Beautiful object.
The design is for me an excellent compromise between a Pelikan 800 (thinner but almost the same length) and a Edison Collier (bigger). It fits perfectly in my left hand of a relatively average size. He is not heavy. And contrary to what I read - we can fully consider using it every day, what I do.
One regret: no possibility in eyedropper.
I bought it with a Stub 1.1 pen and an EF. There too, good surprise. I had heard the worst about Conklin in terms of quality, especially at the level of nibs. If I consider both that I use, the surprise is pretty good. Would I have been lucky? In any case, there is nothing to complain about and compared to other brands, much more expensive, Conklin can be proud of this result. They made an excellent model, very homogeneous and pleasant to use.
As for the nibs, they were correctly adjusted, the flow very good, very soft. No problem starting. The only complaint is that - like all current nibs - they are a little big for their initial size. The EF would rather be for me a MF and as for the Stub well it would be a little too ... Stub. My taste for cursive nibs probably. No matter, it's not really an insurmountable problem to put them to his liking. See, change the nib # 6 by that of another brand as a FC nib grinded by MM.
In the end, I am really satisfied with this pen that I would advise in everyday use as it is easy and pleasant to use.
PS: I do not work for Conklin, I live in France between Burgundy and the Loire.

I love the look of this pen! I get all sorts of comments when I use it. Posting the cap makes it feel back heavy, so I usually just leave it off. It's a little thick, but not uncomfortable for my monster paws. It's a very smooth writer with my Noodler's Walnut ink, and does well on most paper. My only gripe is that the threads on the body for capping get uncomfortable when using it for a long session. Still, I love it!

The Conklin All American Brownstone w/ Med nib is a beautiful pen...well proportioned, balanced, fits comfortably in my hands and is lovely to look at, unfortunately I was less than happy with the actual writing experience; the ink did not flow, the nib suffered from Baby's bottom. After a call to Pen Chalet, Braden immediately diagnosed the problem and with out hesitation, shipped out a new nib. I received the new nib on Friday and began writing with the pen...now it writes as well as it looks, ink flows without a problem. I love it and the service from Braden.

Don’t pass this pen by. I love the style. The barrel diameter is perfect for me. Unposted length is very good - posted it’s a little long. The nib flows very well and writes quite smoothly without scratch. This is one of my daily go-to fountains. Good value.

Conklin All American Video

Video Script

This is the Conklin All American Fountain Pen. It comes in the traditional Conklin blue faux leather box with the Conklin logo embossed in gold on the top of the box lid, which lifts open. The interior of the box is a satin finish. On the underside of the box lid, we have the Conklin logo embossed once again in gold. Included with the pen is two standard universal ink cartridges. It also can use bottled inks with the ink converter that's included with the pen.

And of course, we have the Conklin All American Fountain Pen. This is the tortoise shell version of the pen, pretty basic design and shape. It comes with a gold colored clip. It's a spring actuated clip. You push the top section of the clip. It opens up nice and wide. It makes it real easy to get into your pocket. Nice design there. It has the Conklin logo embossed, or engraved into the clip, and on the barrel of the pen is also engraved the Conklin logo, Toledo, USA, and All American.

The cap on the pen is threaded and unscrews. You can post the cap. This is a larger pen so you can write without the cap posted. No problems there, whichever you would prefer. I think I prefer without the cap because it is a larger pen.

You can see the two tone stainless steel nib with the Conklin logo in gold, Toledo, USA, on there as well. To change the ink on the pen you unscrew that grip section from the barrel and one ink converter is included with the pen. You can change that out if you want to use cartridges, whichever you'd prefer with this pen.

Great looking new fountain pen from Conklin. I really like the design look of them. All three colors look great. Get your Conklin All American Fountain Pen at PenChalet.com!
