About the Monteverde People of the World
The Monteverde People of the World ballpoint pens are inspired by the colorful cultures and traditions of three fascinating tribes. Each of the releases in the collection feature a stunning, handmade, and hand-mixed high-quality resin paired with chrome trim. The vivid colors in the People of the World ballpoint pens are enclosed with a polished chrome or black center ring engraved with the name of the people who inspired the design, along with traditional ornaments.
Dogon: The Monteverde People of the World Dogon ballpoint pens' custom resin features a bold mix of fuchsia pink, golden yellow, brown, and green. The pen's vivid colors are a hypnotizing mix pulled from traditional Dogon costumes and mask designs worn by the tribe's Dama dancers during ceremonies. The Dogon people are known for their knowledge, their belief in Amma, the creator God representing fundamental dualist elements in nature, and their incredible artistic abilities in wooden figurative art and inima mask carving, which are a major element of the ceremonies and customs in the tribe's culture. The Dogon tribe lives perched on a sandstone cliff 1,000 feet high on Bandiagara Plateau in a region between Mali and Upper Volta south of Africa's Niger River.
Huli: The Monteverde People of the World Huli ballpoint pens' primary inspiration was the body paint used by the Huli people. The dominant beaming yellow and red patterns were combined in the custom resin with beautiful dark blue coloring inspired by the bright blue feathers often seen adorning the traditional wigs worn by the men of the Huli people. The Huli clan lives in the Hela Province and Southern Highlands of Papua New Guinea, the world's third-largest island country. The tribe's traditional attire is considered to be the most colorful in the country. Men of Huli tribes are known for spending lots of time on decorating their bodies, faces, and hair with the prominent yellow-red face coloring serving as one of the most famous identifiers of the Huli men. Wigs are also an essential element of the Huli traditional attire, and are frequently accented with varied elements such as animal fur, plants, and feathers.
Kuna: The Monteverde People of the World Kuna ballpoint pens are inspired by the extraordinary colors and patterns derived from traditional textiles, attires, and designs used in Kuna’s culture. The resin of red, gold, green, yellow, orange, and pink creates an incredible combination that carries a deep connection with the cultural values of the people of Kuna and incredibly rich traditional artworks produced by generations of the Kuna people. The people of Kuna are known for their bright molas, a colorful textile art form made up of several layers of embroidered cotton. Molas segments are used to make or decorate blouses of Kuna women’s national dresses, which are worn daily. The textile designs are colorful and portray eclectic patterns of nature, animals, and cultural symbols, which make up a very unique look and color pallet. The Kuna women also traditionally wear a red cotton head scarf and colorful ornaments on their faces and necks. The Kuna men traditionally wear strings of red, black, and yellow beads on their legs and arms and the Olo, a gold ring worn through the nose. The people of Kuna live on reservations in Panama and in a few small villages in Colombia.
