TWSBI Diamond 580ALR Fountain Pens Reviews
This is my first fountain pen and I am really liking it so far. The piston filler mechanism has been a learning experience but it has not caused me any real problems.
Overall, I love the design of this pen and am really enjoying using it.

Great buy. Stub nib is beautiful and writes so well. One of the best stub nibs I’ve tried. Pen is classy.

Really excellent pen. I'm really not sure whether I like these or the Vac 700R's better. I prefer the Vac 700Rs filling system and those are more substantial pens, look nicer when seen in person and fit my hand better. However Jowo #6 nibs on the Vacs are absolute nails whereas the #5s on these are just every so slightly softer which makes all the difference. Both the #5 and #6 nibs are nails but it's just a difference in degree on how much of a nail they are.
I got an extra fine. There is some feedback but it's really smooth given how fine it is. Slightly dry until I flushed it. Perfect a flush. Some Jowo XF nibs on TWSBI pens need a bit of micro mesh treatment. The one I got on the 580ALR did not unlike my Ecos. I don't know if I got lucky or if there is better QC on 580 nibs.

The TWSBI fountain pen is one of two that are currently being used. The other is a Conklin.
This pen is very smooth writing, and fits my hand very nicely. The one thing that that some people are going to object to is the grip. Instead of being smooth resin, it is machined aluminum with a series of ridges that run around the grip. This is not a problem for me, but could be for others.
The piston fill is easy to use, and loads a lot of ink into the clear barrel. It is interesting to watch the ink slosh around inside of the pen when writing. If the piston should need service a special wrench is provided to disassemble the pen. Also included in the package is the needed silicone grease to apply to the piston.

I bought this TWSBI 580ALR in Prussian Blue in the Final Drop section of this web page, and I loved it. It has a stub 1.1 mm nib. The tip does not feel rough or coarse on the paper. It is a stiff steel nib, so it does not feel soft, but it is nice to work with, and it does not have much feedback. I recommend it if you want an entry level stub nib. And the price was like USD 20.00 down its retail price, so it was a good purchase.

I love these pens. The five I have (different finishes) are all Fine nibs. Well made, perform perfectly, well priced. You really can’t ask for more for a practical, affordable “workhorse” pen.

Super nice for being my first fountain pen. I was concerned at first because of not so good writing. Then I tried it on a good quality and smooth 100gm. Now I'm happy. Quality paper makes a super difference. Take that into consideration.
