Perfect pen for my little niece. She’s 7 years old and is always heavily admiring my fountain pens. It always broke my heart a bit to tell her she couldn’t really touch them much less write with them. I heard about these on a Youtube vid, picked one up for her. Got her the pink one (her fav color). She loves to use it and likes to pick inks and find an excuse to work on her writing. I love that I can give it to her and not have to worry. If she somehow manages to break it, it’s cheap enough that I’ll just get her another. Seal of approval.

I ordered the Kakuno in extra fine nib with clear body. It's advertised in its packaging as the best beginner fountain pen and I am somewhat inclined to believe based on the comfort when holding it and how there's little feedback when writing despite being an extra fine nib. It's a friction fit nib and feed so unlike a Platinum Preppy, a full cleaning is possible if need be. I probably would have skipped the other so called beginner pens I purchased had I got one of these.

It was my first dip to fountain pen and it checks all the boxes I wanted without breaking the bank. Demonstrator body check, extra fine nib size check, and lastly affordable price check. I've been a fan of Pilot and this one didn't disappoint. Writes fine smooth lines.
A great choice for first time user. Oh I drop it twice and the body seems to hold pretty well. Also it was easy to disassemble and clean coming from someone with no experience. Highly recommended.
Comes with a black cartridge and a very easy to follow manual. Cute package overall. I already get compliments using it. Makes me want to buy another one as a back up. It's that good.

The Kakuno is a great starter pen or a quality writer for working on-the-go (meaning if it vanishes suddenly, you can replace it for a reasonable price.). My medium nib is smooth-writing, and the grip resembles the Lamy Safari. Mine seems to favor Quink over more dense inks.

I bought the Kakuno for my granddaughter and she really likes it, and I don't have to worry about her accidentally messing up the pen. And, thanks to Pen Chalet for the price and fast shipping.

It’s a smooth writing fountain pen that makes it easy to see how much ink you have left. The fine point is the perfect size and the nib lays down the right amount of ink. It’s durable for it’s size and material used. For it’s price it is well worth it.

Got this as a first fountain pen for my girlfriend and she’s loving it. The Fine nib is great and the pen seems relatively sturdy. Not the most popular entry-level pen, but it’s definitely a great value.

I adore the Kakuno pens. The only thing that would make them better would be if I could make them eyedropper pens. (Yes, I know there's a way to modify them, but I'm too lazy for that.)
I'm a grownup, but I do love the little faces on the nibs.
