Lamy 2000 Fountain Pens Reviews

I got a black Lamy 2000 with fine nib and am completely happy with it. It is a perfect weight and very comfortable to hold. The small cap nubs on the body are nearly invisible and I don't notice them when writing. The nib is super smooth and writes beautifully. I love the sleek design and would buy this again without hesitation. I have it filled with Pelikan Edelstein Tanzanite and it's a great combination.

I find the nibs to run really big on the 2000s, and have a somewhat small sweet spot that can be annoying. Otherwise it's an attractive pen, with a decent nib and huge capacity. The piston mechanism is always a little stiff -- feels much less solid than a Pelikan, but these are cheaper too.

I like the non-threaded cap, and the hooded nib that is less ostentatious than a traditional fountain pen.

My favourite pen at Pen Chalet has to be the Lamy 2000. It is such a gorgeous design and looks so professional when I use it at work. I chose the fine nib since I have to write on bad paper every once in awhile and it is so smooth! It is currently inked with Diamine Eclipse and it is the perfect match for a professional pen with a lot of class.

The best birthday gifts are those one buys themselves. This year my gift to myself was the Lamy 2000. It embodies the essence of the Bauhaus and is exciting to hold and use. Even more exciting was Pen Chalet filled and sent the pen so quickly it arrived on my birthday.

Pleasurable writing is experienced with Lamy's flagship fountain pen--the 2000--made of a combination of fibreglass and brushed stainless steel known as Makrolon. This is a durable material. The 2000 is piston filled and as such can only be used with an ink bottle. The ink chamber has a large capacity. The "heart" of a fountain pen is the nib, and this one is 14 carat gold, and platinum coated. An additional product feature is the spring loaded (pocket) clip.

The Lamy 2000 is so revered that it is on permanent display at the Museum of Modern Art and has won countless design awards.

Side Note: The other day I noticed that our puppy's Veterinarian was writing with a Lamy Studio and he said that he likes it a lot, and uses it daily....in an EF nib/point.

This is my first experience with Pen Chalet. I am amazed at how quickly the pen was shipped. I had it in two days! Fantastic service and fantastic price on a very high quality pen. The only thing that surprised me is really more of a Lamy thing. I ordered a broad nib and the Lamy broad is far 'broader' then any other pen I've had. What I normally experience as a broad would probably be a Lamy 2000 Medium. So if you are shopping this pen, keep that in mind.

This is a great pen! Right out of the box it's the smoothest and most consistent writer I've ever had. Love the feel and quality, just really excellent overall.

After an unfortunate false start, due to a factory QC issue, which was in no way the fault of this vendor. This vendor graciously and promptly sent me a replacement (after offering me a choice of options, ranging from "a full refund" to a replacement pen.) I opted for the replacement, based on the incredible number of 5 star reviews on this pen and no negative reviews by anyone experiencing issues similar to those which I encountered with the first pen. Boy-o-boy, am I glad I did! The replacement pen is everything the reviews said it would be! Upon receiving it, I immediately charged it with Noodler's Eel Black ink and it started immediately and hasn't skipped once in the 6 days since. 5 Stars +!! This is now "first among equals", as my newest EDC pen. If you have needs in the world of pens, do yourself a favor and get in touch with Ron and Jill at The Pen Chalet. I have already bought several pens (and supplies) from them and plan to buy more. These are good, ethical people and I shall be pleased to be their customer for a very long time. Highest marks!
